what colour kitchen units?
I am struggling to choose the colour of our new kitchen units. The base units will probably be a mixture of cabinets with doors/drawers along one wall and along another, open base cabinets with two shelves. Above this wall, we'd like to put open shelves all the way up to the ceiling. I am thinking of using plywood as I like the detail of the side very much. It all needs to complement the hunter green Aga which sits along the third wall.
Further down in the room is a provencal blue dresser.
Any advice, on colour (schemes) and/or use of plywood etc would be greatly appreciated.

Comments (8)Just wanted to say what a fantastic kitchen. So pleased you're keeping it! Formica would be the period correct work surface and can still be bought but may not fit with your budget? I would also look at having a carpenter produce your cabinets. They can be cheaper than off the shelf and would be better build. To save some money you could buy cheap plain carcasses and have a carpenter make doors to match the existing ones that you can then paint. Comments (15)In my opinion it is the saturation level of the paint that is the problem. The beauty of your kitchen is the natural flooring and the wooden worktops, it looks earthy. This is swamped by the blue paint, it just looks wrong. Without seeing the cupboard door colours close up it is tricky but I would suggest looking for something a bit darker than the cupboards but with the same hue. If you want a strong contrasting wall a deep olive green would work as it would balance the wood and the purpley greys....See Morenot sure what colour units to have in my kitchen and worktops too
Comments (3)I'd go to photos on houzz. select kitchens, then just flick through loads of pics and save all the ones you like then you might see a pattern appear... Also think about your space, is it big, bright,.....one colour in one room might not suit another room........See More

7 years agoThanks for the replies. I don't have any drawings as I am not intending to use the normal kitchen carcasses as the style we want is not 'ready made'. I don't know of a easy to use software that I could use to draw out my ideas. Attached some pictures to explain the open shelf style I am after.

My main dilemma is the colour scheme. Should I go for natural wood or go with colour such as F&B Hague blue. Green is also very nice but won't that be too much as the Aga is green too?
