Contact details of Construction companies in East Anglia who could undertake the building of a Gabion retaining wall on a private property where the garden joins the river. Ideas please. Thanks

On the up side, it does look like a beautiful house, lucky you. I feel for you with the builder, as we say over here, 'what a berk!'. I'd go for a cedar or composite deck in an aged cedar colouring to blend with the house. I don't know where abouts in the U.S you are, but you need to consider the longevity of real wood versus composite. The composite decks available to you are far greater than they are over here thankfully. Something like the first pic would be a great shape, but silvery grey:- The other pics are more for colour choice.

Gabions are a very straightforward way of building retaining walls if the design is right. It shouldn't be a problem for any professional contractor. I would recommend having a design in place first. The sizes of gabions tend to go from quite small for domestic work to very large for commercial and so it wouldn't be surprising if making some to fit your project was the best option.

Hi, I think gabions look better in a more naturalistic setting, and quite an expensive way to hide your bins. Have you thought of a bin store? They look nice and can be painted to blend with the fence. I’ve got three examples here, the first is a willow one which is the cheapest option but doesn’t last as long. The second one is polypropylene which should last some time. The last one is wooden which is very attractive but costs a bit more.
