Comments (12)We are a stove showroom that offers a supply and install package. Myself personally, I would go down the fire board the chamber route on the sides, square off the opening as the arch is small or just leave the arch brickwork exposed and split face oyster slate the back of the opening which will give you a nice light opening, the sides can then be painted a light colour. The hearth I would recommend something rustic such as an Indian stone which will tie in nicely with the oyster back. If you square off the opening this leaves you the option to install a beam or not. I have attached a picture of something like what I would recommend. The stove is a DG Ivar which at the minute is an extremely popular option....See MoreHeating options ...back boiler, pv, thermal store
Comments (11)Oh that's very interesting! We live in the country so I'm not sure about background man made sound. Do you have ufh in the bedrooms or just on the ground floor? We like to have a fire and have a constant supply of wood so the back boiler makes sense. I'd love ufh but it maybe too much in the main room if the fire is lit too. Thanks for your comments it's really helpful!...See MoreKitchen Woodburner Stove ideas
Comments (14)Hi Minnie, thanks for your lovely comments. Our supplier has suggested brick slips so am just about to google them! Yes the existing fireplace is nice but always looks cold to me. I have chosen a lovely light grey coloured log burner that I think will brighten up the fireplace instead of the black surround that is currently there but I take your point of unlit log burners looking cold too! I had also thought about an oak mantle and have seen some very nice ones but thought I would wait until the chimney has I been opened up to see final effect. I also take on board your comments regarding adding texture and colour and struggle with this, on the one hand during the day when the room is bright I love the 'minimal' look and the black tops look lovely and reflect daylight and I don't like any clutter and try and keep them clutter-free but in the evening the black granite tops and splashbacks do seem dark although we have recently installed more spotlights which has helped. Thanks again for your helpx...See MoreUnder floor heating vs dual fuel stove
Comments (6)I have a wet under floor system throughout the house with wood -look ceramic tiles downstairs It is cosy economical, controlled with thermostats, no radiators, and cleaning is so easy and quick( hoover and steam karcher). My daughter has underfloor heating powered by a biomass boiler. Two friends have regretted their dual fuel wood burning stove because of the uneven heating and mess it created. Though it does look lovely and cosy in winter and makes great toast, it is far more fashion than function....See MoreVictoria
