Need help with living room!
Comments (14)Absolutely love the idea of curving the built in- that would definitely soften that corner & solve the problem of making room for pushing back the curtains. The rug came with us from previous house so I will be changing it too. Love the curved sofa in the photo above Luciana and the armchairs. We've tried the sofa in a number of places- even tried breaking it up but the shape of the room and the amount of things on each wall means that if we push it away from wall it breaks the flow of our entrance into the hallway & our kitchen. I agree that the mirror is too high- I can't even look into it!! Thanks for all the great ideas- looks like I've a bit more shopping to do!!!...See MoreNeed help for parents living room - where to start
Comments (24)Thanks all for your input. I will take some more pictures on Sunday once we have had a move around. Ash, thanks for your input and reply. The fireplace is a little unusual in that the picture you see with the lantern is the section next to the actual fire, but is part of the surround, i think there is one on the other side too - your comments are all taken on board and we will act upon them this weekend - particularly the rug ones. Hi Minnie, like AJ Interiors I have read through some of your other posts so thanks for replying to this one, all noted, like the coffee table under the light idea. Seniordiva- also thanks very much for your comments, you are spot on. They are definately getting wooden floor just a case of when. Im going to go through this whole page with them on Sunday and then get cracking. Pictures to come soon........See Morecolour advice for period north facing room
Comments (8)Your plan sounds nice as the walnut will warm up the grey..... However I wonder if carpet is a better option for sound insulation and for cleaning plus it is easier to add wood furniture. You could choose a stripe or tartan for a more lux look. You might also consider if you want to add some white walls in the parts of the building with lower ceilings and less windows. I might also consider pale grey ceilings to help emphasize ornate white coving. You should paint the walls, ceiling and coving with a flat emulsion. Woodwork should be an eggshell- I think you get the paint your decorator wants to paint with. If you intend to rent them furnished as a serviced apartment I think that you will need to add more colours to make them feel more homely but otherwise you are planning a smart blank canvass...See Moresmall apartment layout help - dimensions & floor plan included!
Comments (8)I would get a smallish drop-leaf table with two comfortable dining chairs for you and your roommate's eating area. I suggest no barstools - they take up too much real estate. Guests. Ask them to bring a cushion or a folding chair because you don't have enough chairs. I lived in a very tiny place and my guests were happy enough to sit on the floor - 90 minute party, max. Serve VERY good food. Separate the living and dining areas by color/style and/or an area rug for the living room that will compliment your furniture. Decorators siggest that the front legs of living room furniture be placed on the rug if the rug is too small to fit under all of the furniture. If you get a sisal rug, be sure to use a rug pad. Sisal can be like sandpaper on the wood finish of your floors. I would NOT put a rug in the kitchen. Use washable foot fatigue rubber mats instead. Best wishes....See MoreFiona Blessed
