Help please! Bathroom tiling
Comments (10)Hi Jane What a shame, no professional tiler would usually stick a trim over the top of the finished tiles. A good tiler should be able to mitre the edges of the tiles to create a seamless look. An alternative would be to overlap one tile over the other and polish the edge smooth but this only really looks good if the tile is a full colour bodied porcelain (same colour all the way through). As you can see from the pictures a mitred corner is by far a more superior finish that using trim. At the end of the day if he hasn't done what you asked him to do he was either being very lazy or can't achieve the finish required but if you aren't happy you should certainly ask for it to be changed, it's YOUR bathroom! Hope it all works out....See Morebathroom tiled shower tray raised floor nightmare
Comments (7)Yes, the floor has been made level with the shower base (a Wedi tray). The shower tray is set as low as it can be. 20mm thick board has been placed on the floor to level it with the shower tray. I'm thinking of removing that board so the floor height will be lower than the shower base - hence the need to create a curb around the shower. Hope this makes sense! Here's a photo looking through the door, once tiled the doorway threshold will be 32 - 35 mm higher than the hallway if I leave the floor as it is....See MoreMy tiles spoilt my bathroom
Comments (117)Hi all guess what the bathroom still isn't finished but I put some accessories in it and it is already looking quite different. The photo doesn't do it justice it looks better in real life. It looks quite pleasing to the eye. Unfortunately I have bigger problems than how it looks. Do any plumbers know if this shower is access compliant? It has no cut-out or thermostat. You have to control the shower with the bath taps so there is a high risk of scalding. Considering this is a specialist company for mobility I find this pretty shocking. You can't shut off the water other than the taps. Also the temperature fluctuates as there is no thermostat. This is the pipework and electrics below does anyone know if this is legal? See how near the pipes are to the cables??? It seems a bit precarious to me. I am worried about the cables getting hot or wet. Thanks everyone for your support and wish you all a Happy Christmas....See MoreHelp with bathroom tile design
Comments (30)Hi, if you did that, the box would be a very prominent feature and unless the box was the same width as the window sill you would have one surface slightly wider than the other which would look unbalanced so ideally I would leave around 100mm - 150mm between the two surfaces as in the photo. That said, it does depend on the height of the window sill from the floor. These details can be difficult to call which is why we use software and get a 3D visualisation. In answer to your second question, yes you could use chrome or satin nickel finish strip or a glass pencil tile to finishes the top of a tile very nicely and avoid that awkward edge created with a ceramic tile. You could use the strip on its own or with a mosaic of some sort - the pink and grey scheme was an Art Deco style set we did for a bathroom showroom. Chrome strip is versatile and can be used to add that touch of sparkle to an otherwise neutral and understated scheme ....See MoreDenise
