Need help with my Garden
Comments (46)Bearing in mind that you have young children, the focus of the garden in my opinion should be on them. A small patio/dining/relaxing area for adults near the house, and perhaps also at the end of the garden would be lovely. I would also have most of the garden redone in grass (real grass!) with room to play. And I would keep the fence... its the most practical having children near a river, even if they're not babies anymore. I would probably break up the unusual shape of the garden with a few pots, planters and borders 'sticking' out into the garden so the eye is drawn away from the sharp, narrow end. I agree with what was said above though about just living with the space for a bit and seeing how you use it....See MoreNeed help for my garden!
Comments (0)We have decked area in the garden, which was left from the previous owners of our house.. They've had a beautiful wooden table there with benches, some flower pots around.. I want to have a launching area, while my husband wants a proper dining 4-6 seater table there.. Which I wouldn't mind as well in case we have guests, etc.. But the space would fit both, if we use it wisely. I'm looking for designs, which could help us to make the right decision on how to use space the best. If anyone can suggest something, we'd really appreciate it! Many thanks, Dasha and Luis...See MoreNeed help for my garden room
Comments (2)Hi Anne-Marie, I would definitely pick a colour that makes you feel you're outside so the room flows into the garden. In my summer house I used a Valspar colour called bottle fly wing which changes with the weather. It looks pale grey on cloudy days and pale blue on sunny days. I kept the floor a similar colour to the deck outside so that also flowed as one. See link below. Summer house / garden room...See MoreNeed help with my garden
Comments (3)If the drainage is really bad and it sounds like it may be if you are getting pools of water on the surface, the best thing to do will be to get a drainage expert in. As Sven said a system of simple french drains may be a good solution. But you may also need to excavate a soak away for the water to flow into. Generally french drains are laid in a herring bone pattern to drain, with the main drain leading to a soak away. A drainage expert should be able to give you the advise you need....See MoreEsther Jury Landscape and Garden Design
