I love this living wall panel

Could you please tell me how long the panels last and look nice when they are installed outside? I'd like to build a living wall in my patio which is facing west.

We were lucky enough to move into a 1930's house ten years ago which had original panelling in the hall, dining room and family room. We loved it then and have made the most of it ever since. We're currently in phase one of a large modernisation project and are keeping the panelling, changing up the colour and extending it in to enhance and complement the new open plan kitchen and dining room area. I'll post photos when we're finished!

Hi Sangita, your best bet is to hire a skilled joiner as there is not a wide selection of wood panelling available online in the UK (it looks like the style in the image is quite American). If you are looking to re-create the exact style, which has pretty wide slats then I would approach a joiner who can build this for you. Reason I suggest this is because all the plumbing and electrics needs to be rigged through the panelling as well. Fantastic space! And I LOVE the pillars they make the room unique and will be a lovely impressive finish to the room if you're wanting to keep it elegant. You say you would like to keep it natural and warm and cosy because you have a toddler so you want it to be a comforting and inviting space, so the sofas you have are perfect, to section off the room why not consider placing the 3 seater in the centre of the pillars? I think with a little one running around radiator covers are a good idea. But the current ones will kill the look you're wanting to achieve, so keep the idea of having them, but perhaps have some tailor made to suit your theme? You can then get a little creative and make them look more stylish. See example in my pic below. Also you have a lovely opening into the garden but the lighting seems a little dark during the day, so I would definitely keep your colour scheme light and airy, that way if you keep the pillars you can just paint them a solid white so they soften and won't look as bulky. I had a look at the Zoffany Paint colour chart for you (I adore them). And I think they have some lovely modern takes on the colour beige, like their colour called "canvas", "milk" or "Lily" for example. I agree you don’t have to be symmetrical. I did a sitting room for a client recently and had to work around an off centre window and a panel heater. By the time the room was painted and furnished the asymmetrical design wasn’t obvious. What I would say about your drawing tho is that the panel round the mirror is very tight. That maybe dictated by the width of the tv on the right but if you had room to widen it, it would look better. Are you set on having the tv in the wall? Or could it be on a floorstanding unit/table/other (something sympathetic to the style of the room)?
