How can i possibly design this small powder room W/C?
Comments (50)Lol AMW. There's about 15cm from top of window to ceiling & the walls are cement blocks (so no recess space). The tiled 'secret' drawer compartment looks pretty cool though. I've got a cabinet being made in oak which will have to be sufficient for my daughter. The only thing I haven't decided on yet is the punter colour material to go with my java marble tile. So any pictures or links of suitable countertop/bench tops to go with the tile & oak cabinet would be grand :)...See Morealternative remodelling take 3
Comments (18)So the meeting with the builder today clarified a few things. 1) it’s too awkward to leave the original kitchen back section as a utility because the wall is only a single skin and not up to building regs so would need knocking down/rebuilding anyway, lol. 2) can’t really put the kitchen in my last plan at the back of the house because of the floor joists (as I figured) and extraction etc. He said the extra costs would outway and savings on the few metres reduction. 3) only option is to either change the design completely re the kitchen and not have an island so therefore taking out the need for a min of 13’ space to fit one in! Or 4) move it in from the left side so it’s closer to the dining area to save on some building costs and reduce overhead roof lights (don’t need 3 really) So I have to work out in a 26’ proposed room length - needing 10’ for the kitchen (wall to end of island seating) and dining space, what I could potentially lose. It’s not much - maybe 1m (Original plan below)...See MoreKitchen/diner layout help please! 6m x 3m
Comments (13)Hi Lizzie, it’s really hard to see on the plan as some things were made by the builders. The large cupboard next to the fridge houses a washer dryer but they just put doors on the ‘hole’. We had normal height cupboards with half height on top plus skirting board to take it all to the ceiling so as to avoid dust traps. But extra high on the sink side so the tap would fit. Under the breakfast bar is a wine fridge and two wall shelf units - one had the back taken off so as to make it full depth for all our other booze bottles! Everything is from Wren. I can send you measurements if it helps but the plans are a mess as they have random bits stuck in places as our builders did lots of fiddling! Very happy to talk you through each unit if it helps. Amazing extendable table from danetti (the cheapest one they sold!)...See MoreKitchen layout - Peninsula or Banquette? (Interactive 3D Renders)
Comments (10)My vote would be for option 1 but it’s all about personal preferences. I prefer my kitchen work area to be separated from people who are in the kitchen to socialise. So for me the peninsula layout is ideal (although I would move the hob to the side run as others have suggested. My kids refused to sit at our old kitchen island when it had a hob on it. They said they’d rather be splashed from a tap than from a hot pan) Also if it were my house I would also make the kitchen slightly more compact so the distance between the oven run and the peninsula was slightly smaller which would also slightly enlarge the dining zone (this is assuming the pillar could also be moved/reduced) But again thats completely my personal preference for a more compact kitchen triangle. Ultimately go with what makes you happy, you’re the one paying for it & living in it everyday....See Moreski4life
