Height of seating

We have built a similar seating area at the end of our garden but I think the seat is too high, what height is yours?

Hi, regarding the seat height - it really depends on how tall our clients are. We've had the seat height range from 43cm to 48cm - but you also need to think about if you are sitting on the seat with or without a cushion - these heights are generally without.

Thanks everyone for the helpful comments :) I probably should've explained that we have a separate lounge diner with a large table and chairs, so we want the table/seating in the kitchen to feel more relaxed and only for 4 people (but don't want it breakfast bar height). And in terms of the prep space I was thinking we would use the space next to the sink, immediately behind the hob - but maybe that wouldn't be practical? Our current hob is actually where you suggested J but I hate it there as when I'm chopping and cooking I've got my back to everyone sat at the table. We were hoping to create a combined space rather than have very distinct areas of kitchen and table, which it is currently. I quite like your alternative idea Jonathan, it's similar to the other option we're considering (but the hob and sink are swapped over).

Hi Hilary, Why not consider motorised blinds? They are not as expensive as they used to be and now you even get wireless battery operated ones and even solar powered ones which have a 5 year battery life. I considered them for my parents house a while back and the only reason I didn't go ahead was because of other renovation work which is still due. Some come with dawn to dusk timers and can be controlled via your phone even while your away.

I wonder if a bench stool may do the job? I’ve recently bought one from Footstools & More, a fabulous company with great customer service. They have many styles, fabrics and legs to choose from and they can make up something bespoke too. The variety of legs available mean you can adjust the height by your choice of legs.
