I like your design. What material is the dinner table? I am currently extending our kitchen and am going to put new kitchen but still looking for something really contemporary and sleek, crispy and luxury. I think your design is exactly I would like to have in my kitchen. However, I live in North East so I really need to find things somewhere around here. Where can I get these style please?

Hello mrgu1, Well... I'm another! BUT.. What you need is someone who thinks outside the box.. So with that out of the bag... Have you thought about an L shaped Island.... Why not create something that really identifies with the space.. A really slim 600 width island that opens out to a bigger dining portion.. It could even be a series of smaller modular "islands" with a fixed element for dining.. That way you could move things around.. With that run though.. you could easily do away with island altogether and then just focus on the dining table and seating..If you have at least 5m run it's doable! May not be palatial but you could create a larder in the utility area and house the washing machine in one of the 600 cupboard spaces in the cabinet run or situate in the storage area marked if it's wide enough.. You could potentially stack the washer and dryer if you don't want to see them. A lovely one such as a Samsung eco bubble can look very stylish on view! I'd be inclined to consider the idea of opening up the front reception and living area with the addition of french doors or sliding doors that suit the period and style of your home. Just to add another idea I had when looking at the plans you've posted.. : ))

Hi We have a similar space at home - my advice is whatever you decide to make the furniture (and your mindset) FLEXIBLE - ie movable and kid proof (washable covers etc) the use of my space has changed over the years and the idea of a play space for children seemed to disappear very rapidly (and be redundant space) as when they are little they really just want to be where you are - and you want them to be where you can see them. The breakfast bar has been the center of life! They are drawing whilst you are cooking or making lego etc., then when older doing homework etc/getting help! When teenagers they took over the family room and my husband and I commandeered the space in the back for peace and reading etc! My point is life and practical needs change very rapidly with growing children, Think about using the family room for your own needs as with young twins it may be very useful to be able to to have hobby/musical instruments/ (whatever your interests are) - left out and accessible for that precious time and space to yourself - and with a lockable door.:)

Maybe if you move the sofa to the opposite wall? You could then perhaps move it closer to the window, so it doesn't 'cross over' with the other sofa. You don't want one sofa to be partly in front of the other, if you can avoid it. As Ellie said: a different pendant that gives more light. I would put a light coloured, large rug in the lounge area.
