How many wardrobes do your clothes occupy?
Comments (10)Hello Isidora – I see your post was a while ago but I would like to offer a few thoughts about this important issue. As you suggest storage needs to be thought about and planned for - I see others have made some interesting contributions. I see support for open clothes rails, built in and other thought provoking arrangements. My friend found a usefull resource that describes how to solve this problem at low cost – plus an extra consideration that needs thinking about. There is a new book: www.KeithJamesClarke.com that describes in a Case Study (CS 6) how to create a perfect Walk-in Wardrobe at very low cost. Have a look at the website. And whats the extra consideration? It has been designed to allow natural light into the space... moths don't like light – so no big surprises with holes in your most cherished clothes! All the best to you... BBSB_2...See MoreMaximising space in a bedroom without a built-in wardrobe.
Comments (9)Without seeing the space it's difficult to advice, however if you have a wall you can use, then you could built it in with open storage solutions as per your needs - without a frame and doors you can save loads of space, then you could hide it all behind a layered panel curtain that covers your whole wall. With the panel curtain you can add colour & pattern too, it can give the pleasure of a nice wallpaper. This solution would also come a lot cheaper then buying different pieces of furniture...See MoreMaster bedroom - built in wardrobe layout
Comments (29)Hi Laura Yes, take a peek on my home page at the project there. This is one I did for him. As the wardrobes were already fitted, I used "cubby storage which has bins for his jeans etc. There are also further boxes to store pjs etc. When it comes to using bins or boxes to store clothes, I would advise not using anything that stacks - always go for drawers or one bin/box per cubby. If you have to move one box to get to another then it becomes a bit of a trial and things tend to become untidy quickly. thanks Jill...See MoreLayout of master suite - bedroom/ ensuite/ walk in wardrobe
Comments (36)I like Jonathon’s first drawing for a couple of reasons. You can have a walk in wardrobe for all the hanging clothes, which can end up looking a bit messy, and have the more traditional type of wardrobe for items that can be boxed up, such as handbags and shoes, and folded clothes / drawer items. I think a walk in wardrobe is better without a window as natural light can fade clothes, so much better to have a bright bathroom with 2 windows. Finally, as you’re building the internal walls from scratch you could look into having a pocket door system into the en suite thereby preventing a swinging door getting in the way of either the wardrobe or the shower....See Moreheaders13
