need help designing a open plan kitchen, living, dining area
Comments (6)Hello Jeannette, what a lovely project! I've worked on a number of bungalows and they have their own unique challenges. Making the spaces work for our needs today, and for your own family needs have to be the priorities. I would suggest you appoint an interior designer before thinking in detail about the kitchen. An interior designer will find out how you want to use the space and come up with clever floor plan that is workable and beautiful. This is going to be a really important investment for you. I would love to help - I couldn't advise in any detail without seeing the property and of course, without meeting you. Very best wishes Yasmin....See MoreInterior design for kitchen/ sitting room.

We can certainly give you the WOW factor with some of our vibrant and exciting colours. Several of the other people above have suggested bar stools that may look good, but they have hard wooden seats, which means you want to get off them within 10 minutes. I suggest that comfort plays a BIG part in your choice. Also we can supply about 12 or 14 barstools which have matching chairs. They can be covered in the same real leather which means that your whole project is pulled together with the chairs and barstools matching in style and colour. Please check out our seating App http://www.seatingmyway.com/app/chairs This lets you choose the seat you like, the chair legs or bar stool base you like and then select the upholstery colour to see your own finished creation. It also gives you the price and the order code. Comments (4)What is important is first to look at the function. The room will sometimes be full of children and families, can they all fit? A small chair and table with books can be a boon to make little ones feel at home. The elderly need a higher seat preferably with arms, while some who have just had surgery prefer to stand and a standing desk shelf is good, with a writing area to fill in questionnaire for health and feedback. Is there hanging space for coats, hats, shopping, suitcases, musical instruments, prams, wet umbrellas, wheelchairs and all the paraphernalia the public carry with them. My first floor dental surgery waiting room looked out onto the street and I had a wonderful display of flowers in the window box which like the tropical fish tanks of older surgeries is a great reliever of tension. There needs to be spaces to display treatments available, a comments book and box for feedback and Space for magazines and pamphlets. Do you need a notice board? Colours of walls and furniture need to be calming yet bright, cheerful and easy to clean. Do you need a mirror? People like to check their appearance before leaving. It can also be placed to find patients who slipped in when reception was busy and tuck themselves around the corner and you think they are late. When all this is taken into account it needs to be personal reflect the warmth of welcome by yourself and staff. We had patients who didn't have an appointment just came in for a quiet rest. That's a good test of whether you have got it right....See MoreNeed help with flooring fr my new kitchen/dining/sitting room
Comments (6)Marble would still work well in all those areas - luxurious and dramatic! A couple of points to take care with: - Take care if you're option for high gloss, as they can be slippery when wet - If you're opting for a very "white" marble (Carrara or some such), be prepared for it to show every dirty mark and need regular cleaning. If your lifestye can cope with this great - if you have three labrodors and live in a pair of Hunter wellies, I'd urge caution.......See MoreMary
