Hi, I would love to see the end result if you do have any pictures.. My room has no real wall to put bed against.. one alcove is 100cm.. the other 120cm however it slopes where roof is, the goes into a large L or maybe even a L and another backwards L.. Did you just get the bedroom chimney breast taken out and/pr downstairs too?

Of course. The dimensions would depend on the size of the fireplace/burner you would be going for. The opening would have to be made of non-flammable material, such as brick, stone, metal, porcelain tiles, Vermiculite Board, etc. You could use non-flammable paint over that. For example, our freestanding baskets like the one Richard posted above need 60 cm clearance from the bottom to the top; or if you wanted a contemporary line of fire look you could go for our Regulating Bio Containers like the one in the photo below - all required dimensions are available in the brochure with building advice on our website. Hello, It seems to me that the chimney sticks out about 350 - 400mm into the room. That's a lot of potential space. The TV is probably 50mm deep. That leaves 300mm of space doing what? I would suggest removing the chimney breast completely throughout the house. This should not cost more than about £5,000. Then I would build a bit of stud for the TV and any other elements I wanted and gain additional space on the ground floor and first floor. If you remove the chimney on the ground floor get an engineer to design a suitable support and remember any structural supports have to be signed off by building control.
