Need help for my living room
Comments (20)I have a two very similar rooms to this. In the living room I painted the coving, windows, door and skirts in Railings by farrow and ball (it's a very dark blue black). It looks bloody fabulous and because of the height and scale of the room it can really carry it off and looks very grand. I then wallpapered the entire room in the scion range by harlequin. Be bold, rooms like this can really take it. The bedroom which is identical I painted completely in RAilings (walls, coving, skirts, doors etc) and it looks awesome and every single person that sees it loves it although 99% of people wouldn't be brave enough to do it as it's very dark. Google abigail AHern as she loves using dark paint throughout her interiors and it really works, esp if you have a period property . I personally stay away from feature walls as I think they've had their day and look a bit 'changing rooms' circa 2002.... I've also put white wooden Venetian blinds (got them made to measure from ebay as were a lot cheaper) which also lifts both rooms. I also put a wood burner in the fireplace in the living room and have crucial trading dark grey carpets throughout. Good luck!...See MoreMoody Blues! Advise on changing paint colour please?
Comments (37)Hi Jen, I really like the contrast of the white with the darker colour (it’s actually Hague Blue that we went for in the end.) When my budget allows the intention in this room is to replace the curtains with traditional solid shutters. These will be white to match the windows....See MoreF&B Scotch blue ??????
Comments (25)That's a very good question. I actually haven't been in there recently. The OH has been working from home since before lockdown and he isn't the tidiest of people, so I've left him pretty much to it. It's his space, if he makes it a tip, that's on him. However, as there appears to be enquiring minds wanting to know, I've just asked him how it looks and he's said it's okay (?) :-( ...............But we all know that a lot of blokes have a very different definition of okay to that of a female. He's disappointed with the Billys, as they're not quite up to snuff because he wasn't able to get the glass shelves during lockdown. So I've dispatched him to take some pictures, so we'll see....See MoreAre dark blue walls too dark for a dark bedroom with minimal light?
Comments (13)If you’re looking for dark blues, look at Craig and Rose’s Payne’s Grey. Despite the name it is actually the most beautiful shade of deep blue with a hint of grey. I spent months agonising over blues but then got fed up in lockdown and got the Payne’s Grey, despite worrying that it would be too grey for such a dark corner. it is the perfect colour, and I’m looking forward to using it on walls elsewhere. It’s also usually cheaper than F&B and similar if not better quality....See Moretamp75
