Dimensions and drainage

I love this look and all your work. Sadly, you're 2000 miles away. Can you tell me the wall thickness and height of the concrete? Also, what are the overall dimensions of the court here? Any suggestions since you built this? Thank you for the help.

Thanks for the question! The wall is 12" thick, the outside wall height ranges from 4" to 9", inside wall height is 6", inside dimension is 10x50', French drains inside, under the surface. The wood bumper is a nice touch, but not necessary, we used color concrete with a trowel finish.

We had all of our windows, doors and the conservatory colour bonded, guaranteed for a lifetime! Totally amazing and sooo cheap compared to window replacement. Our conservatory was white, but the windows were darker wood like your conservatory The whole lot matches now, even the garage door !

Changed my mind mid-build on location of kitchen

I've taken some photos this morning of the build and attached our plans. The flat roof area is where the kitchen is currently planned for (you can see the drainage poking up, with a board over the trench). I've not been comfortable with the kitchen layout and haven't ordered any kitchen yet (although would like a modern kitchen which is bright and clean - but I have 3 small children, so nothing too high maintenance). I have ordered a 110 range cooker. We're over budget! So I very much like the idea of running the pipe through an island. Do do you think it would look strange putting the kitchen in the middle of the flat ceiling/extension area? So the return pillar would be in the middle of the kitchen? Maybe put some floor to ceiling cupboards in either side? Any advice or experience or inspiration would be very much appriciated! After bringing it up with my my husband last night, he's a bit cross with the change of heart (I say enlightenment!). Gemma

Obobble and Suzanne C, thanks for the comments. I think the idea of putting the shower and toilet along the right hand wall is a good idea. Do you think there would be room if I put the vanity unit parallel on the opposite left hand wall, rather than underneath the window? (Sorry I like the idea of having a mirror in front of me rather than the window obobble!) Also what do people think are comfortable dimensions for a spacious walk in shower? If I put the shower in the back right hand corner then I’m not tied so much by the width of the window I think as it won’t jut up next to it? Ie it could be wider that 76.5cm?

Hi all, wow thank you for the feedback. Definitely food for thought! It is so hard going from a flat with a balcony to a real garden so the idea of plants is daunting. I really see what you meant about taking the border behind the patio at the back so there is less fence (I hate looking at wood!) and investigating other ideas to draw the eye rather than another patio on the left. I think I will keep investigating, I want it to look nice as it is your direct line of sight from the sofa but don’t want anything too tall as it creates shade on the back right which is the only constant spot where we get sun. In terms of the patio by the house, I may need to add interest using pots. Even though I am removing the shed we will still need some sort of bike store / shed which I will put up against the fence as I don’t want to put it at the back of the garden and use up a sunny spot. I’ve also looked into composite decking and think I am now against that as I have read rats and mice can nest under it. We back onto a field and are currently dealing with a rat problem so don’t want to attract any more! Next steps are to continue looking on Pinterest and incorperate these changes. Thank you :)

I have a 12x70 court with trellis's at each end. Any suggestions on securing lighting? I have an electrical outlet at one end, but feel t's too far to string lights all the way across.

I recommend running a cable across. Attach the string lights to the cable.
