Help choosing tiles for flooring in my new kitchen??
We have just had our new kitchen fitted. Really pleased with it...combination of dark walnut and putty shaker doors, with Sensa Bianco Antico granite worktops. We are having antique mirror splashback behind the hob. But just cannot decide what to have on the floor. I want tiles but just what colour will look right with this combination...I need your help!

Comments (10)As a contrast but to prove the colours work together. We have grey units and cream walls, so yes go for it. I think if you have a darker floor and lighter walls, you'll keep the airy theme. I wouldn't bother with named colour paints from the likes of F&B etc, instead as you want to get the shade right, pick your tile, take the tile and a drawer front to any shop that will mix paint and that offers hundreds of shades and get the pale grey right. Comments (13)Hi, I've now had quartz worktops fitted in a white with grey and mirror flecks (compact lactea) & attach photos. Cabinets are all done too. My next area is what to do for splashback behind the hob/under the extractor. I originally wanted to do red glass across the length of the wall, but we have had under unit lights fitted below the higher cabinets and at night I can change these to any colour I want. If I do red all across I won't get the effect of the lights. Not even sure red would go? The wooden chairs are going and will be replaced & I still need to choose my island lights (thinking 3 pendants hanging). Husband thinks stainless steel sheet behind hob. I'm not sure this will look right with dark glass hob under it & wonder if it is hard to look clean all the time. What ideas do you all have as you helped with the worktops. Comments (10)Hello Caro, That is a spectacular kitchen and the second I have seen on Houzz that's similar.. The other was yellow but the owners ripped it out! I am very glad you're keeping yours.. The fridge is wonderful too... What would really make this stand out is if you could find a home for the pans... So the kitchen remains sleek... Could I suggest a warmer lighter granite for the worktop or perhaps a worktop that would compliment the look like Formica! ... I think black would be too harsh here.. Something with blue in would be good too so it compliments the tiles... OR keep what you have as it looks blue.... You could have blue as a theme for the flooring too... Are you changing the flooring?.. My wife is ruling out wood because she doesn't like the look of wood in kitchens and because we have solid wood flooring in the rest of the downstairs area and she thinks it will clash. Picture below of where out kitchen meets the hallway. Also we bought some more of those tiles yesterday to get more of a feel of what it'll look like. It does look pretty good but it does worry us about what type of table and appliance colours we will be able to get and really making it all look a bit drab perhaps? We are leaning towards sticking with relaying the same times the house already has as we have been unable to find any better looking light grey tiles. We do really like them....See MoreUser

7 years agoHere is a photo of the other side of the kitchen...so you can get the jist! It is all light this side. I will experiment with a dark and light grey tile, and also a wooden tile. I will post an update for your thoughts!

7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoI have used porcelanosa 'Dover Topo' rectified porcelain in my bathroom (see floor in photo) and it is a lovely slightly warm grey with a beautiful texture. I would love it in my hall and kitchen but I haven't managed to match it colourwise to anything else that is available but a bit less costly.

7 years agoI think Apollo Parchment or Cloud tiles could work, they are neutral so would go with the other elements in the kitchen. Available in a high gloss polished finished for a bright and reflective look, or matt for a clean finish.

7 years agochange of plan....had the worktop guys back today as the worktop and the upstand don't match!! it looks like it is all coming out and starting again. the actual worktop is very much the wrong colour and not what we were expecting.

7 years agoA colour match with the cream cupboards, a plain gloss floor tile. like this image.
As long as the tile matching the colour of the cream cupboards then it will match with the walnut and also the marble top as cream is the main colour in the marble.

7 years agothanks for everyones replies. we decided to go for a anthracite grey glazed tile which reflects the light withoit being too glossy. Really wanted the worktop to be the statement in the room so took the advice from some of the posts above to contrast the worktop. We are very happy. Just cant wait to get our mirror splashback up now.

6 years agoI combined light and dark cupboard doors in my old house but used stone effect Karndean tiles with a border. I much prefer the vinyl tiles to porcelain so much warmer under foot.
