Roller shower blinds have been available for quite a while - we had one years ago at a previous house and it worked really well. Although it was white, it didn't mark at all in the 5 years for which we used it, although we were careful to wipe off any stray blobs of shower gel/shampoo and leave it down for a short while after showering so that it could dry/air off but it did just seem shrug off any water. Weighted rods at the bottom kept the blind hanging straight down and it didn't get sucked towards you like a shower curtain does. The rods were in three pieces - a longer one in the middle and two shorter ones at the ends so that the blind could follow the curve of the tub at the short ends. This arrangement meant that no water escaped the bath tub. It looked neat and unobtrusive when wound back into the cassette. Shower screens take much more looking after, in my experience, so I wouldn't choose to have another one. If I remember, our blind was relatively expensive compared to a shower curtain, but the looks, the ease of use and hardly any maintenance requirements made up for that. Out blind was still in pristine condition when we moved out. The next house had a separate glass shower cubicle - nightmare! Current new-ish home has a good quality, weighted shower curtain but will soon have a new shower blind. IMHO, you wouldn't regret getting one too.

I did wonder about putting an L shaped glass shower screen at the end nearest the sink, but I couldn’t find any! I’m not sure what is beyond the sink, but if there is a wall you could swop over the sink and bath so that you can have a glass shower screen (which attaches to the wall). I’ve no idea of costs for that but I did completely refurb my bathroom into a shower room and the cost, including all fittings, plasterer, plumber and tiler, was just under £6000.

Can i give a shout out to the good old fashioned shower curtain. After years of wanting a bathroom revamp in what looks a similar sized bathroom to yours, I was delighted to have a sliding shower screen installed. It's two glass panels and swings out to clean the bath and for ease if access and does a pretty good job of keeping the water in. But I hate it. It's an absolute nightmare to clean and once achieved (with great difficulty and a mixture of scratch sponges and old toothbrushes) then keep looking clean. The gunge that builds up in places you can't see until you get your head under the bottom silicone strips is horrible and I'm constantly having to unscrew these to clean them thoroughly. If I could go back to a shower curtain, without damaging my tiles I'd do it tomorrow! I miss chucking it in the washing machine then buying a new one for under a tenner when it got a bit ratty or I fancied a new colour /style . I'm happy to try and find you the link (amazon if I remember correctly) if you're fixed on a screen because I think I chose the best I could have for my bathroom but just thought it might be worth mentioning before you go ahead with your bathroom update.

Hello we are planning a bathroom renovation and I'm looking for some assistance with showers. We are based in the UK. we will be getting a shower over bath and the bath will be situated flat against the far wall of the room, so against 2 external walls and 1 internal wall. However only one of those external walls, at the typical tap end of the bath, can be used to fix a shower due to the location of a large window. We have a Combi Boiler but our flow rate isn't amazing; about 8.5 litres per min from the bath tap, and circa 7 litres per min from the shower head both at shower temperature. We currently have a bath/shower mixer. We would like to get the best possible shower experience we can within our flow rate limitations. We're not fussed about a thermostatic shower because only adults live in the house. From my research this seems to lead back to another bath/shower mixer. However if anyone has any alternative ideas then please let me know. in terms of brand we're thinking Grohe / Hansgrohe etc. Something good quality which will last. Also we're only looking for a hand shower. We won't be needing a rainfall overhead shower due to lack of ceiling height to be able to fix it at a decent enough height for my tall husband. Does anyone have any specific shower recommendations based upon our parameters or any other brands to recommend so that we can narrow our focus? We will also be having a glass bath screen and I'm thinking maybe Matki- although we're open to other suggestions. We want something which is good quality and easy to clean (i.e. not too many nooks and crannies to get dirty!). Because we're having a bath screen and due to the location of the vanity unit (i.e. relatively close to the edge of the bath) I'm concerned about the ease of reaching taps to turn on the shower to get the water to shower temperature before stepping in. Is there any way we can get a shower with the controls easily accessible? if this is something we want to investigate would our only option be a digital shower or are there other plumbing solutions?
