(dis)repair victorian tiles?

We have this tiled floor in our hallway, no idea if this is repairable? it's covered in cracks, it isn't level (especially to one side) and there are numerous cement patches. anyone give me a ball park figure of repair? if can't repair, do i (try) rip it up and level again, or just level on top, assuming other tiles going on top? is it worth trying to sell the tiles once up?

It could be repaired but would cost. I think its worth at least getting a quote. Which part of the country are you in as I had a floor repaired in London like this (not so bad) & just had a victorian tiled porch put in to the new (old victorian) property. These floors really stand out & when done up look amazing.

Thank you, based in Rugby. the porch also has the same tiles but seems fine. we bought the house not knowing it had these tiles under the carpet and felt like Christmas when uncovering it. we'll jus see if it will be anywhere near reasonable. thanks once again.

Thus is my hallway , I bough a new floor to be placed all over the flat but then i found this underneath when i removed the old floor, i would like to keep it and integrate it somehow with the new floor, but this will be at a lower level because of the new floor will be on top of the wood floor boards. Love the transformation on the front! We are in the middle of doing a Victorian house, and getting the brickwork up to scratch will be third priority: interior (underway - see my threads on here!), front security gates, then exterior in the spring. On the driveway - are the resin ones that look like gravel, but aren't e.g. gravel set into a resin? Saw one at a hotel and it looked great with a period building. I would be worried about what to do if I needed to reach services underneath it like gas/water etc, though...

We inherited a supposed "dual fuel" stove with our house. We have had it swept and maintained properly, but it was pointed out that the lining of the chimney was not of the required standard for dual fuel - only for wood !! It had been done 'on the cheap' ... We decided to use it instead of central heating if/when we were both at home, and opened the doors on the ground floor so heat could circulate. It does a good job of that ! We started off burning wood, but soon realised that it had to bve 'fed' almost every couple of hours - wood burns through very quickly. We've used coal recently, and find that much better, as it only needs making up a couple of times during the day. It's OK as long as we don't mix fuel, apparently. We know it's probably not the best environmentally, but couldn't afford to put in something like a heat source pump.

Hi Agccheung - I would get a professional in - I looked at doing myself using the Original Style tiles that Victoria mentioned but it is very tricky. I used the Victorian Tile Company London & then Victorian Creations in Herts but google around & see who does locally. Yes it is a great feeling when the carpet comes off & you see those great tiles. Good luck keep us updated.
