I don't how to finish my bathroom
Comments (23)Hi Lilly! Well... I have to be honest and admit that I was thinking about lying and saying it's great, etc. The truth is: I've never used it! not once. I'm a shower girl and it's not that I won't take a bath (I would, I promise I'm not whiffy!!) it's just that since we've moved in, I never had the time or felt the need. Plus, I feel guilty and uneasy thinking of the amount of water I'd waste filling up that monster (and we have a second tub in the loft bathroom that's smaller -- never used that one either...) When we chose the tub, I think hubby and I were a bit nostalgic; I used to have this huge hideous burgundy corner bath in the house I bought just before we met and let's just say, we used to like taking baths together (hmmmm...). So we went for a large one, I guess both thinking of our almost decade old adventures'! I did however undertake an experiment for you: I went and laid in it, just to see how it is. I'm 1.62m (about 5'4'') and with a slight bend of either knees or neck, you can sleep quite comfortably in there. I also thought it could be a great hiding place in case of 'god forbids': fill half of it with water, add bubbles and submerge - it's enough to cover all of you & hopefully nobody will think to look for you in there! :)) I've digressed ... not sure if I answered your question. If you wanted details about the make of the tub - this is a Clearwater natural stone bathtub: http://www.clearwaterbaths.com/products_main.asp?cat=201&subcat=395 I can tell you another downside of it: if you ignore the waste of space and water, you can't ignore the amount of dust that accumulates in it. I've resorted at hoovering it; just rinsing it with water didn't do it.... But hey! it looks great and generates questions on Houzz, so I guess it has its uses, right?!! :))...See More3 bed + bathroom downstairs or 2 bed + bathroom upstairs?
Comments (22)Front hallway- I say save your money leave it up. Cost of removal is minor but you will likely have to move radiators and electrics and make good plasterwork and coving- I say protect another £1500 profit. Present the larger back reception as a living room and present the front reception as the dining room. Given that the bathroom is likely to go upstairs make the downstairs bathroom into a room to access the garden- I would present the kitchen as a kitchen/breakfast room with doors to see the garden as being able to see from the front door to the back garden should pay dividend....See MoreRelocating bathroom door or entire bathroom and kitchen
Comments (22)Thanks for all the great ideas guys! Just had the builder to view the flat and here are some updates: builder said the soil pipe seems to be straight down, but could install a pump to flush it; although the estate agent said the pipe goes from external wall at the back of the flat. Not exactly sure who is correct. the budget is likely to go between 30k-35k. I also had a measure of the current bathroom dimension which is 1.67*2.13m. and the ceiling height is 2.56m. we'll probably change the bedroom wardrobe and free up some space as well......See MoreWhere to put additional bathroom(s)
Comments (4)Thanks pjbell! My first thought was 'no way, we use bedroom 2 and can't lose it - far too radical'. But then I stopped and looked and actually, that may well be worth considering! All bedrooms are in use - bedroom 2 is our studio/craft room/office. Kids are in the back bedroom and top floor. I've got my heart set on an en-suite and keeping our large bedroom but have been mindful of making the studio too small so was opting for a small shower room. I've been pondering if there is anything we could do to have a larger family bathroom but couldn't see how. This could give a large family bathroom and more luxurious en-suite. The back room is south facing so would be much better for a studio - its worth seeing the size if we split into two bedrooms. I do like the fact that all bedrooms are decent doubles and wouldn't want them much smaller. We are going to be here for the next 10-15 years and will then look to downsize when the kids have flown the nest. This will be the only major work we'll do so although it needs to be right for us, I also want it to be as appealing as possible to the next family. Definitely food for thought - thanks!...See MoreThe Interiorist
