Yes I'm not keen on "trends". It's rather like clothes that everyone is wearing, but look dated after one season. Decor and clothing are so much better if classic in style. Never goes out of fashion and you can keep them for years. Hate this obsession with grey decor - overdone and so boring.

Thickness? Bathroom Shower Acrylic Splashback

Looking at installing acrylic splashback walls in my shower, to save on maintenance costs, as opposed to tiling. Was initially stunned by the cost of the ones supplied by bigger names, selling the material in kits "specifically designed" for this sort of usage. I've since come across local plastic fabricators, whom will supply the acrylic I need at a much lower cost. My question is, what thickness does the acrylic need to be? It tends to be sold in either 3mm or 5mm, with some companies saying it really needs to be 5mm, and, possibly more honest ones (?) saying 3mm is absolutely fine for a splashback (after all, it's not bearing any weight, other than itself). If it makes a difference, it will be comprised of two panels, one w900 x h2600mm and the other w1400 x h2600mm. Anyone have any thoughts / experience of this?

You have some lovely ideas Jane, you definitely have an eye for design. I love your log burner, perfect for those cosy winter evenings. In terms of the wall colour I think a nice deep blue - the Little Greene paint company do a great Royal Navy colour I believe it’s colour 257,which would look fabulous. I personally think the blue would work on a feature wall with the remaining walls in a more subtle tone, like an off white or very light grey as darker tones can make the space look smaller. I like the idea of combining two types of chairs, I think this concept truly works - Vitra have been doing this within their lifestyle shots for a long time. I have had the pleasure of visiting the Vitra factory and campus based in Basel, Switzerland as part of my Vitra training and the love and craftsmanship put into each piece is truly phenomenal. A super addition to any home. I love your choice of using the Vitra DSW and DAW chairs, they are super comfortable and durable, a true classic that deserves your investment. With regards to dining tables, I think an Oak table will work brilliantly alongside the items you are working towards, I especially think it will tie in with your floor and kitchen area.
