That light is from Currey and Co. They're not doing it in that color anymore. They are doing it in Stockholm White.

Hi @Paul McCann, I am not sure what's you budget is, your plan for the property and if it's worth the work but flipping the functions from the front to the back of the house could be a good solution to embrace the orientation and balance the layout. Smaller room at the front, less deep, will maximise the North's light. Keep the services like laundry room, toilette and stairs in the middle where it's going to be dark as you will use these spaces for the least amount of time. Place the kitchen and dining area at the back to get all the light on the room you will use the most. Here are a couple of quick options for an alternative layout: Op1 is keeping the stairs where it is currently and do not touch the first floor. Op2 is moving the stairs that will effect also the first floor Please bare in mind that with no dimensions and very little idea of baring walls and structure of the house, location and surrounding this is just a fun exercise!

My MIL has a white gloss kitchen & it does show every mark but I suspect she doesn't wipe it down so often whilst we are staying as it make sense with my 3 kids! We currently have an (inherited) wrap around shaker door with vertical grooves which has been easy to maintain but is peeling away at the edges now. I think a good plan would be to take my 3 to a kitchen chain & monitor fingerprint making as they open/close doors! Thanks everyone again....I will have to make a decision at some point....

Thank you Minnie. That looks really good. We were planning on a range, we'd want two ovens and ideally a built in microwave, if the space we have means we need built in appliances, then that would be something we would consider. In terms of the utility, we plan to put the washer and dryer in there, as well as somewhere to squirrel things away such as shoes etc. You mean have the utility and porch as one, with washer/dryer hidden behind cabinets, perhaps? That extra 2 ft might give us room for a range, perhaps? We are definitely going to have doors into the lounge, just not showing on the plans yet. I see what you mean about the island, a longer one would give us more storage too... storage is an issue we have in the current layout, so the more the better. If I’ve left the windows a bit too long then I’ll use window spray cleaner sprayed all over and wear gloves so my water can be very hot and go over all the windows in the room with any cloth. Then get fresh hot clean water and fresh cloth start again on each window then squeegee and dry cloth for edges and runs. Mine really need doing now and been meaning to all day but run out of daylight. Been in the garden and done the first mow of the year :)
