Problem with metro tile with grey grout in kitchen
Comments (29)Thanks again for all your comments. Particularly helpful to be alerted to socket issue. I took these pics before the builder replaced the sockets with some nice chrome ones. (see new pics) However, he's still got them in the wrong place. Will raise that today. He hasn't actually finished the hood area in these pictures - as I stopped him. But also the chimney extractor doesn't seem to be functioning so it needs to come down anyway. This solves this problem and we can tile behind it - although I'm still worried that he's not going to be able to redo the job well enough. I've added some more pics with better light. Still finishing the floor and just have to adjust and tweak a few things but (apart from tiling) nearly there! The kitchen is Howdens Burford Grey, Pure White Quartz from Master Quartz (not been impressed with this as marking so easily with pans, belt buckles, any kind of grime - but probably shouldn't have chosen white! - anyone else had problems with their quartz?), Paint mainly F&B Wimborne White and Slipper Satin woodwork, engineered oak floor from Howdens....See MoreSplash back tiles
Comments (19)Colourhappy sinking the fridge in the wall is my plan, just not right away. I don't even have to steal space, it'll fit into the 'triangle' but I would need to take the kitchen door away and move the utility door. I'll make do by adding an end panel to the right of it to blend it away when seen from in the dining room. Right now it has to stay where it is. As for tiles, I'm somewhat stuck because the worktop has a marbled vein though it. It's white but not brilliant white and next to white wall tiles, it'll look vanilla. The veining through it is grey with a tiny touch of copper/burnt orange through it. Hence why it's called Calacatta gold. I live metro tiles but it's to right here. There is herringbone on the floor so though I do live patterned tiles, again it needs to be simple. Right now I'm considering a glass slab. Any thoughts on that?...See MoreWhite Metro Tiles With Grey or White Grout?
Comments (9)It comes down to personal taste doesn’t it? I prefer white tile with white grout as I think the grey grout has a grubbiness about it, rather like public toilets in the 1960’s and 70’s. Obviously if you are relatively young then you will not have this wonderful memory lol!...See Moremarble effect white porcelain tiles or grey/whitish porcelain tiles
Comments (12)Hi Vandana, although we agree with some points Minipie mentioned, but we think glossy marble in the house is just beautiful. Concerns that it feels cold can easily be solved by installing underfloor heating. And the fact that is glossy, we agree it can be slippery, but in the living room we presume you will have a nice big rug to make it cozy and non-slippery, but in the kitchen, that glossy finish will make it much easier to clean the floor.
