kitchen layout ideas, is this the best use of space?
Comments (24)If you were to put the utility door in the hall which might be more practical for washing, you could do something like this? Rather than the island have the peninsula as shown in your whole ground floor layout. Personally speaking I'd also go for an integrated FF as it's a much cleaner and streamlined look and I think fewer appliances on show in a living space the better. I'd have a banquette seat for the dining table so you can have it against the wall. An L shaped might work well. I'd try the sofas opposite each other to create a bit more space although that may not work depending on how many people in your family watching tv! I think you'd need to bring in the one opposite the tv a little to be able to see the tv anyway unless it's a massive tv! Although if the dining table is pushed back into that corner as suggested it does leave room for a corner sofa with perhaps a low back chair opposite it in front of the tv....See MoreBest use of extension space?
Comments (8)Hello, I think the comments above are all good points to consider. I find bar stools are breakfast bars are one of those things that seem like a good idea but will be under used. I have a preschooler and a toddler and I would suggest that a good family dining space in the kitchen will be a lot more used than an area with high stools. A separate dining room does seem like a nice idea but I think it is probably a luxury that doesn't make sense with the space you have. Try to really imagine how you use the space and keep a track of where you spend time now. It would probably be worth consulting an interior designer or kitchen designer to get some ideas. It doesn't always cost as much as you might think and can save you making decisions you might regret. Good luck with the project, it looks really exciting....See Morehow can I make best use of this space?
Comments (0)I have recently moved into this 3 bed detached 1950 house in Kent. We have 3 (soon to be 4) young children (5yrs and under) and are trying to work out how to best break up the space. We can extend to the garage on the ground floor and first floor not quite so far, and then will be putting on a new roof with 1/2 bedrooms. I’d love some ideas for how to break up the space downstairs into kitchen/utility/W.C/ adults lounge/ dining area/ family area and then upstairs into 4 bedrooms, family bathroom and maybe en-suite too?! Some suggested architects plans attached as well as existing plans....See Moregarage conversion- best use of space?
Comments (14)@ideasforinteriors - thank you. We are open to losing that door anyway as we already have a back door at the kitchen, so that wouldn’t be too much of a problem. We could possibly add another back door to a utility space in the middle. At the moment that would open into the walkway round the house but we have a lot of space at this side of the house so it wouldn’t disrupt anything. So would you all say it would be better to put en-suite in the garage conversion rather than split the main bathroom?...See Morevinoella s
