What is missing???
Comments (41)Forzaitalia thanks. Got a fuzzy feeling from that comment. Where are the emoticons, they were needed here! Houzz Team????? Yes I have an appointment with Hilary's for blinds for the window. StJamesdesign, hmmmm wooden floor, I might consider that. I'm scared what will become of the cream carpet but then I'll leave til it's grubby and if I have to change it, wooden floor is the first option. Ash thanks for that runner and dish idea. I will definitely add that ;)...See MorePOLL: Cherished gold - hit or miss?
Comments (15)Hello Emmeline, Yes I like the idea of old gold... It's quite an ochre and lovely with earthy colours, charcoals, greys and browns and creams..... ... I agree though the image has not at all taken the spatial element into consideration.... It's all so one sided and right next to the window! The placement of things is typical of symmetrical styling which can be boring.... without a lot of creativity! As it is and working with what's there... and considering Maisie Moo's thoughts.. I'd move it all over... Hang the mirror over the bed landscape.. Paint the two side cabinets a matt charcoal to sit the oversized lamps on and move them further away from the bed so there is space! Replace the cushions with two large origami silk in charcoal by Nitin Goyal. Additionally just 2 of the old gold cushion and place a dark charcoal throw over the bottom of the bed to hide the end.. Sit the two pouffes at the end and put the bust on the floor next to the floor length window. This injection of charcoal will immediately lift the somewhat still bland scheme and tie in the beautiful radiator... The rug is wrong, the baskets are wrong and so are the blinds and the vase of flowers.. but that's my Amber hue on it.... : ) ) If the little cabinets were painted a dark charcoal...I'd put these knobs on too... : ))...See Morewhat is missing? after renovation
Comments (25)I think the room is most of the way there but for me there are a couple of hard elements that need softening and a couple of things that I think are not sitting so well. I think that the floor and sofa are quite hard looking. A rug under the dining table and a sofa throw could help. Personally I would choose bigger rugs to cover more floor as I think the colour is less contemporary than the rest of the room. I think a couple of oversized house plants could help too. In my opinion the overhead lighting is a little harsh and you should add some table and standard lights. Personally I would prefer to see curtains that match the front windows, behind the dining table. I would remove the picture rail that seems to circle only half the room. I also think that the cabinets would have more presence if against a darker coloured wall and wall mounted so the taller cabinets would be window height....See MorePepping up bathroom - under sink cabinet, wood & paint/paper ideas pls
Comments (10)Thanks all. 1. A carpenter/fitter is coming around on Sat for the kitchen - I'll ask him for a quote for this too. In the meantime, I've been googling/thinking, and saw this from IKEA: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/washstands-taps/wash-stands/fullen-wash-basin-cabinet-white-art-70189041/ (& pale green countertop: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/washstands-taps/wash-stands/viskan-countertop-pale-green-art-70354804) I just need to remove a slice of the base at the rear for it to be level with the top of the basin. Hope that doesn't look weird. 2. Will paint the door frame - satinwood or similar. Easy one, that. :) 3./4. Will look at the navy/teal/dark grey wallpapers and paint. I think a combination of them may look really good. Have requested some samples - just waiting for them to arrive now! Great. Can't wait to get going now....See MoreJenny Bartoszewicz
