windows to match sandstone wall

recently bought a two story house. the house has just brick and roof and has been left for a strip of stone wall. we both love sandstone or a light colour stone. I have an image of cream or off white windows in my head but cannot see any images or houses that have this combination. is there a reason for this or should I be thinking of different colour. thanks in advance for any help

The challenge with any colours when matching is exactly that! if they don't match exactly then they can look wrong. This is why i believe it is hard to find finished windows coloured to your sandstone. Painted finishes available have improved somewhat so this may be an option moving forward. Can you upload a picture of your home to help others visualise your project?

I think that people mostly wallpaper all their walls, or, just one feature wall (usually the one you face when sitting) I was looking at the thread of emails and Moniker sent 2 pictures right at the beginning that I think look fab. A few subtle changes in your room that would make a big difference are getting bigger bedside lamps and getting a large statement piece of art or perhaps even a large mirror instead (which would make the space look lighter and brighter too) I'm not sure what your budget is but changing the carpet to a neutral cream or taupe would also help tie the room together. I'd personally dress the window with a simple Roman blind or roller blind a bit bigger than the window as having curtains behind the bed may be a tad difficult to manage? However, if you are in love with the idea of wallpaper, you could always paper three walls first, and based on how you think it looks, either leave it at that or continue with the forth wall.

Hi Ellen, We went with a very similar style but from a local company called Unfitted who handmade all their kitchens. We're having the units in a dark inky blue (Como from Zoffany) and a grey / white Quartz top. I can't share a pic yet as it's only being fitted later this month after all our building work is finished but here are some renders from our brilliant designer who helped us pull it all together from the ideas I liked (lots from Blakes!) to actually getting everything ordered and scheduled.

Hi. Firstly, I think the pale grey woodwork and dark windows could look quite sophisticated in combination. However, if that's not your cup of tea, it is perfectly feasible to paint your PVC windows with specialist paints (Sandtex and Kolorbond are two of the options) to achieve a more contemporary look for your room. If you do paint them, consider painting the skirting, walls and window frames in the same grey colour. This way, the frames and skirting will visually disappear creating a more cohesive look. I believe important is also the nature of material this colour is on. If the existing kitchen window is wooden frame, painted white and the new bi fold door is aluminium anthracite/black I wouldn't mind. But if the white window is plastic white, this truly doesn't go together very well.
