Gold?!?

Hi everyone my daughter has just asked me to re do her bedroom she wants a 'big girl bedroom' and she would like pink and gold. It's definitely not my taste but I'd like her to have the bedroom she loves while is not look out of place in my very White House. Can anyone think of anything I can do to give her a gold and pink bedroom that's beautiful and modern without looking cheep n tacky...

I'm assuming she means the rise gold and blush pink that are very trendy at the moment, rather than barbie pink.
This would definitely fit in with your all-white house and easy to pull off without being tacky.
You could paint the walls a blush pink, keeping the soft furnishings white and adding gold accents.

What about a white room with one statement wall with a wall decal? You can get the colours personalised.
Perhaps the gold can be understated with only a little in the decal and perhaps a brass and white bed and a brass ceiling light for a bit of understated bling.

I agree with everything that's been said. I am looking for exactly the same sort of finish for a bathroom retrofit - going for a wet room. I did find this fabulous range in 'Champagne Bronze' finish: https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/collections/trinsic-bathroom-collection and- https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/product/T17T459-CZH2O BUT the (Canadian, I think) company do not deal with UK at all. The Yemen is on the list of countries where they have dealers, but not GB! I did email Delta Faucet but they never replied. You do see this range sometimes on eBay and Amazon. They are a bit pricey though and shipping costs are high, also my plumber cannot figure out if the range is compatible with our pipes/electrics/technicalities etcetc So, wake up UK plumbing companies!

Thank you for all your really helpful comments so far. My eyes are being opened to different thoughts and design ideas. I have loaded a few more photos from the day as it shows the light. The patio end is south facing bit we have a conservatory and some trees behind which reduces the light on the room. as you can see I do have lots of ornaments which I would want to keep and whilst I might have the odd piece to reflect the colour of the room I do t think this room is one to do from scratch and therefore a design idea needs to be around my bits. I have previously changed the botanical flower print as it was once another colour. As the room is long and thin it is quite hard to find an alternative layout which allows us to view the tv as well as entertain and see each other. Carolins I am loving all your ideas and today am going to visit a fabric design shop to see if I can get ideas there. I spend hours going through shop websites looking for cushions/ curtains / lamps as ideally I wouLd like ideas/links to products if possible. I am thinking of painting the wall a more neutral colour? Maybe something like Dimity from farrow and Ball, but from a cheaper supplier? please keep the ideas coming I am so grateful for all your help thank you so much! Also new to this site so not yet worked out how to comment on your post individually sorry

Depends which way you'd like the room to feel but I agree with the dusty pinks and greys. I'd include a fancy mirror and lots of lights, perhaps a mirrored dressing table or console table if you're tight on space. Here's some inspiration, the wallpaper is Erika Wakerley 'angles' but I have a feeling it would be too dark for your room so I think a pale dove grey would be better.

Yes Laura that is definitely more what I was thinking those pictures are beautiful. I'm just not sure how to do it as her bedroom is a loft conversion so it's a strange shape and there is spot lights any particular paint colour suggestions

She is 5 (going on 15) I can share pics but it is a playroom at the moment so it may take some imagination. I'll also include pics of her current bedroom & furniture

This is the playroom as is. Please excuse the mess, believe it or not this is her minimising her toys. The wood work will all be white and the carpet will be changed the velux window will be changed to a white one too.

Hi,

I think the first Q would be regarding the age as this can alter shades of pinks and golds you choose.

As your house is white I wouldn't look at rich pinks and golds as the main colours and as mentioned above consider the more muted pastel shades which In my opinion look more.elgant. I might also throw in a bright pink cushion if favoured to give a slight edge yet compliment the rest of the house.

This is her bed and chest of drawers and she has a wardrobe to match. I would change her bed too so maybe a statement headboard?!?

The end result of the bedroom created by this user is really quite elegant using greys and pinks with hints of Gold.

You could dress up using fairy lights, cushions, a nice rug, etc.

sorry, from the pic it's difficult to judge dimensions, but have you decided on the layout yet? Also, what all will the space be, just a bedroom, or a playroom as well, with working/studying space to be needed soon?

you could switch the handles on the furniture to something that would tie in with the rest of the things you decide on
it seems the drawers and cubby/ storage box are off white, and you mentioned the wood and so on will be white too.
how about you keep the headboard (off white I think it is), and do a soft pink feature wall behind it, and the other walls in light cream/gold. the light colours will lighten up the space and lessen the busy look that many toys can create ;)
then you can have an artwork or two, gold framed, and a mirror as suggested above.
choose bedding she likes, either along the creamy gold or pink tones. use some scatter cushions, a throw, a fluffy rug, to introduce brighter golds and pinks.
have you anything for window covering yet?

The storage cubes are white so is the headboard nothing is off white I think it's just the lighting in the room as it is a bit of a gloomy day. It will be just a bedroom but there will be toys in there too hopefully not too many will be visible though. I was definitely looking to change the handles and was thinking of a little gallery wall to try tie in the pink and gold. All though it's not clear from the photos is is a pretty big light room. I'm not sure of layout as yet as you can see the walls have sloped ceilings so it will depend where I can put her wardrobe also there is radiators in the strangest of places

Another option is to go neutral and add pink and gold accessories that she can help choose. Much easier to change then too!

The room below has some gold elements, whilst still very much being a child's room. Obviously you would need to change the pale blue for pink paint. If you search for "pale pink and gold" in the photo section of Houzz and choose kid's rooms you will be able to make an idea book of photos that you're happy will suit your home and your daughter could then choose her favourite from your selection.

ok white furniture then, that's fine too. it will help tie in with the rest of your house.
It seems to be the consensus that pale pink and gold with brighter accessories would work well.

if you'd like ideas on the layout as well, provide pictures taken from the corners of the room, looking out at two walls.
if you want to go a step further, draw up two sketches, a plan view from above and a cross sectional/ side view.
include in these sketches doors, windows, built in cupboards, radiators and any other fixed elements. then let us know the dimensions of the furniture you have (bed, cupboards and drawers)
it's a bit of work, so do it if you want to, when you can :)

These are some pink and gold rooms from Houzz. They are a perfect balance between grown up and still girly. You could tone the shade of pink to suit your taste. The spots are vinyl decals which are easy to apply and can be removed without damaging walls when you want to update the decor. You can buy gold dots here -

Hello Natalie,

I personally think a plaster pink (which is on trend) has a mature spin on the colour pink. Team it up with lots of pale greys, brass and natural woods to get a grown up yet girly room. I would recommend to play with white - gold and pink details details

you could have two walls totally white - 3rd one white with Gold decal Dots

Hi everyone thank you so much for all the fab ideas. I've just ordered a carpet it's a very light grey I don't have swatches or anything to add a picture but it's pretty basic. I've just had all the upstairs of the house the same. Im still undecided on wall colour I'm not sure if it's best to do a very muted pink like some have suggested or to keep it simple with white. I'm leaning towards the pink though as it's such a big room I think white would leave it looking very empty. I've been looking at bedding and I'm finding nothing hopefully if I find that I'll be able to add from there. I've ordered some rose gold handles for her wardrobe and chest of drawers I'll add a photo so you can all tell me what you think. I was thinking maybe a little gallery wall but I'm unsure I think I will add some pictures of things I've liked so far and maybe you could all help me on how to put it together. I've seen a lot of suggestions for grey and my house is literally all white and grey so I'm defiantly a fan. I don't mind having touches in her room but she specifically stated no gray in her room. She's definitely on team dad when it comes to how they feel about my lack of colour haha.

Hi Natalie. I would wallpaper the wall with the tv on. I love the star paper suggestions and it will grow with her, this paper is from nubie. I'd paint the rest of the walls and beam white but use a blush pink on the cupboard doors and bannister. The chandelier is from the white company and again would grow with her. You could look at a rose gold bed, the first one I think was from Cottage toys but the 2nd is from Argos and half the price. I know she wants a grown up room but teepees look lovely in a kids room, I also saw one in blush and grey, I know she doesn't like grey but it might tie in with the carpet

I love that idea minnie101 the teepee is amazing I don't really want to paint the cupboards pink as it's quite a bit of work to sand etc so I think I'll keep that white. I did play with the idea of grey walls but wasn't sure how to tie those in

You could change the knobs on the furniture too for added touch of colour without much hassle.

Hi everyone thank you for all your comments they're all great. My original plan has changed slightly as I was going to do her walls all a very light pink but I hadn't realised (it'd not even entered my head) that because it's a loft conversion and there is a full staircase going in that will be accessed from my sons bedroom. It will be one flush wall from his to hers so I'm going to have to have the same paint colour in both there rooms. My sons was going to be grey and navy. Grey walls navy accessories white furniture. Now I'm going to have to do both rooms white maybe with a feature wall in both. Which if I'm honest i don't love. Any suggestions would be great thanks

umm all right, could you share a pic of that wall? as in, looking to, and down or up the stairs

you could still paint some of the walls, eg pink walls in your daughter's room with white on that particular wall, and the other four walls of your son's room either navy or grey with accents of the other
