which kitchen wall tiles shall I use

Hi,
i am renewing my kitchen. I have finished finalised cream Shaker style cabinates, oak look Vinyl flooring and black worktop. I have attached my kitchen design and the tile i ha e chosen to put. I am looking for an advice on which kitchen tiles shall I go for. will the tiles I have chosen look good? if not what other options I have. want to give a modern look to my kitchen

I like the tiles a lot, but I think they may date the kitchen quickly. If you are keen, I would suggest a small amount of tiling, and keep the rest of the kitchen ultra modern. Would change the handles to something more contemporary. Likewise the tiles work on a plain background, but with all your wall mounted cabinets it may look over crowded. I would suggest, opting for a light marble colour counter top and pick up the green in the tiles to keep the space clean but fresh.

I love the tile tiles (in fact it is the thing I like most about the kitchen) but I think that with black granite it may be a little dark especially with a pale cabinet. Could you have a pale worktop? Given your cabinet and worktop choices I would think a metro tile would be a good choice.
Given you are after a modern look I wonder if this is the best cabinet and worktop to choose plus there are some design tweaks that could be made.
In my opinion the fridge looks odd flanked by cabinets. Integrated fridges looks more modern but if you are set on the American style fridge consider having larder units and the fridge doesn't have to be completely central.
I think it is not practical to have glass cabinets both sides of the hob (because of cooking steam). It would be good to have smaller wall cabinets both sides here so the extractor is not crowded.
Lastly this seems to be an extended kitchen but its likely it has no more units than the original pre extension. Would a design with an island be better? If you did have an island you would have more room to have a few things that would make this design more modern such as two built under ovens rather than one small double, you could have a wider hob and extractor, an integrated microwave so that the worktop is not cluttered

Wow ... that was really very useful Jonathan.. Thank you for all the advices. I will talk to the design team and see what they can do about it.

we thought of island but as there is a big beam in front of the cabinates (not shown in the pic) which making it more congested. Yes you are right, it's an extended Kitchen.

Hi Kusten, the tiles in my photo are for floors and walls, I think they would work best on the floor in your hallway. If you decided to use them you could paint the walls in a neutral shade to match. They are called Classic Alternatively if you want to half tile your walls you could go for something else like this for example. Boiserie Or you could look at our Inspiration Page for other ideas.

Why don't you paint cupboards in a pale grey and then have either white or a darker grey metro tile. Alternatively you could paint tiles. I have just used graphite tile paint on my 1950s red tiled windowsills and was a bit nervous at first but they look great and I am gradually working my way round whole house. Only needs one coat, no undercoat, just wash tiles with sugar soap or similar to make sure they are clean and grease free first. Also touch dry in 20 mins

Hi, What are your kitchen units like? Personally I think that the mix of the floor and those bevelled-type tiles would be a bit much for me, it might be better to go for ones that echo the same design as the floor but in a more subtle way. It might be a good idea to get some samples though of the ones you like and see if you can get a bit more of an idea of what it would look like in your space. These are some more toned down marble hexagon tiles. In this kitchen they used a similar shape tile on the backsplash but kept it plain. Or - you could copy the floor!

Thx for the replies. Read some of the responses and decided not to put any panels and this is the outcome. Considering there is no sort of panelling I'll have to decorate it another way. Any suggestions? Even got my bit of Quartz cut and buffed to size. Waiting for tap to arrive in post and I'll get the basin fitted too. @j;aCualey - that's an interesting idea. Any examples?

If the kitchen tiles are to be used only over the kitchen worktop, then it should not create too much of an impact on the overall kitchen design. However, we would suggest using tiles that are sympathetic towards the design of Benchmarx kitchen design, in this case white tiles.

A dark worktop may not work with the style of cabinets indicated here, so perhaps it may be best to look at a timber worktop, so that it can unify the entirety of the room.

I don't think the tiles will suit. They are very fancy. Do you need any tiles at all? If you're having an upstand most people don't bother with tiles.

You will have cream fascias, black worktops, oak flooring and then a blue mix in the tiles. Too much going on but that's just my thoughts.

The tiles are a matter of personal taste - as is the choice of cabinets and worktops - the layout however, could really do with improving in my opinion !
You can still buy from good value places - sure - but don't feel you have to only use the their planning services .
Independent design is available and affordable and makes a huge difference !
Some of the designs on my pro page are for good value products ! Take a look if you like !

not sure about the tiles but that fridge freezer looks wrong. good advice from Johnathon above re layout

I agree on both comments on tiles & the freezer does look wrong. The tiles are too overpowering just have upstands & I would do in black for a modern contemporary look.

I like tile but separate from wall. It looks good when you see one. IMO it looks busy for the wall. Did you think to use subway tile instead? Be sure you would not tired from tile look later.
