The clients brief was to expand and create kitchen without taking to much of his back garden, huge cost and planing problem.

We designed this space with his old dining room extended to an old fashion conservatory which he had already and just remove the roof and walls and floor and replace the roof with slate roof and from inside we add 75 mm insulation and plasterboard ceiling, cavity walls with 75 mm insulation, and floor insulation and parquet floors.

My goodness, that's more like a banqueting hall than a kitchen! Lol. (I'm slightly jealous if u can't tell ) That's a difficult one to decide given the style of the room. I've had ultra modern kitchens in a victorian house before but it didn't have as much character as this room. I think as long as you style it right, and work in perhaps more contemporary colours then a modern kitchen would work. Of course a traditional kitchen would suit it down to the ground so perhaps you could even go for a blend of the two. Agas work well with mixing styles and they come in loads of colours. Having just had a new kitchen myself, I would advise looking at pictures and seeing what takes your fancy. Rather than trying to fit a kitchen into the room, it will give you chance to work out what u really want from it and how you envisage it. A good kitchen company will then be able to help you choose the right one that will work. Re sitting area - you have the space and its a perfect place for seating/chilling room.

You could try changing the back-splash. A back-splash taken right across the wall would look much better as it will soften the overall feel and make the room look wider. Here are a couple of photos (you can see more on our web site in the feature about wall murals). Also as tamp75 said, some open shelves and potted herbs would look great and ferny, frond style plants will add a delicate texture to relieve the hard look. Here is a photo of our glass splash back ( if you wanted to go down a green colour scheme) . It is right across a wall and some open shelves and plants above. A great alternative colour is amber/pinky brown - Dead Salmon or Smoked Trout (last photo) from Farrow and Ball would look lovely on the walls if you didn't want to change your back-splash behind the hob, and then you can add wood accessories, shelves and plants. And finally you could add some pattern- The photo below shows Ca Pietra Trellis tiles which we can supply for walls and flooring

Are you buying a white kitchen or painting one,i'm not sure. If you are buying one, then you are limited to the supplier's colours and you'll have to colour match the walls and ceilings using cards from paint manufacturers like Dulux or Valspar etc Thus in that instance you would have to look at kitchens and decide on the right one first. However, if you are painting a kitchen, then go get the colour cards first, don't mess around with tester pots from F&B, Little Greene etc . Dulux paint is superior in my experience and they supply paint for all surfaces in exactly the same shade.

After taking a look at the photos of the spaces available, I would recommend, in the kitchen, a modern table with a minimalist and elegant style; wooden chairs with seat covered in fabric or eco-leather. In the living room it would be nice to insert a two-seater sofa covered in fabric; a designer coffee table in polyurethane; a low cabinet to be used as a sideboard and a minimalist and non-invasive bookcase.
