Hi Joana, thank you for your question.

The material used in this Bathroom is Statuario Natural Marble which is not a Quartz Resin stone. However, there are some quartz products which look very similar to Natural Marble, for example the Compac Unique Calacatta.

Hi Karl. I'm not convinced a glamorous look will work with the floor. Perhaps slightly vintage? Unless it's the camera angle you seem a bit restricted by the shaving point unless you move it? I'd go for a slim mirror with a shelf as pictured and then art over the loo (m and s had a vintagey mirror). I'd then add a lidded candle and a couple of nice potions on the shelf. If there's room I'd add a white marble soap dispenser and toothbrush on the sink (I think John Lewis do them with a matching toilet brush holder ). I always like hammam towels for something a bit different. How deep is the alcove? Could you take another pic?

Hi Ben, As we get into the nitty gritty details with measurements and everything, then that starts to really get into a checking everything, very time-consuming situation to make sure all the elements of your project will fit and work out. I am retired now, but may I suggest once we get the big stuff laid out, then you (if you feel confident) or get a professional to check over the entire plan to make sure everything works for the measurements, spaces, appliances you are looking at, etc. A kitchen designer may help, but would really try to find someone who can 'consult' on the whole plan. That way you know everything checks out when it comes time to do the buiding works & installation. If you have a kitchen designer as well, usually part of the kitchen sales package, they can then double check all of the kitchen & utility stuff. What I can do is tell you in functional terms what I know will work better for layout given your building constraints, day-to-day living, etc. First, I like the row of tall cabinets along the left side - this will allow for optimum storage - even a coat closet in the first cabinet if there isn't enough space in the entry. Plus for all the dishwear you may not use everyday but are helpful for extra guests, and for the option of sticking in a built-in microwave & coffee maker, if not another better place. So if you can keep this, then great. If not, then it can be configured partially or wholly like your standard kitchen units. Plan 1 - this plan depends on how you want to use the island and the dimensions of it (if it is big enough). Sink ideal in island really. The sink doesn't have to be centered, but there needs to be at least 30cm on the smaller side of it min as you don't want dishes falling off - 50-60cm is ideal of course. Dishwasher - If you are left handed, put your dishwasher just right of the sink and if you are right handed, put it just left of the sink. Range on other side of utility door Fridge as is Plan 2 - Island clear Sink other side of utility door Sink placement makes dishwasher placement tricky - if enough space then to right of sink Range on right side wall Fridge as is Plan 3 - Island clear Sink on right side wall (if plumbing is doable) Dishwasher - If you are left handed, put your dishwasher just right of the sink and if you are right handed, put it just left of the sink. Range on other side of utility door Fridge as is Plan 4 - Built-in coffee / microwave station in tall cabinet where Rridge is shown now Sink ideal in island really. Range on other side of utility door Fridge at the end of the cabinetry on the right wall All of these layout plans give you a useable and functional working zone (usually triangle shaped for sink - range - fridge) that isn't too spread out to become a neusance. Also, they each aford you a viable counter prep space or two for chopping and preparing your meals. Your partner may think you are mad, but that is why people hire designers - because most plans need to be worked and reworked, taking in to account loads of factors, preferences, and incorporating great design as well as dealing with copius measurements. This is why hours and hours can and often should be spent on getting things right in the planning. I can't tell you the number of houses I've visited where people have had work done that just didn't function well for them in the end. It is worth it to spend the time over it now and if you need to - hire help or get a professional to double-check you work. It usually saves money and hopefully loads of frustration down the road. I think the room is looking great. I’m useless with colour but I’m seeing purple in your wallpaper and pink for the fire so would try to bring these colours in. I would also add a lamp on the side table and bring in wood for warmth. If this table is too big there’s a smaller one. The only issue with a rug (ignore the one used it was just to help my poor photoshop skills 😂 ) is that the back sofa overlaps the hearth so a rug can’t sit under the feet. If this bothers you, you could layer rugs, could be sheepskins or round rugs etc or just have a small rug in front of the sofa facing the fire with a table on

Thanks Rowland, I won't take too much of your time, but just wanted to add something more for this thread. I have been looking at Trevor Yorke's books/info and he did this drawing of a 1960's style house. I am thinking that there would be no blockwork behind the tiles just timber studwork and plaster board and perhaps some polystyrene. But you might be right the inner course could be blockwork. Once I carefully take a few tiles I will know more but haven't moved in yet. I was thinking of cleaning the tiles when they are off individually or using the brush in the picture. There is a lot of moss type growth in the tiles. Interesting that you said concrete I thought it was a brick like material baked in a kiln. I am using my time for planning at the moment and costing. I checked on the local authority website and a neighbour was refused planning as they were adding a two story extension onto the side of the house and changing the porch. Basically there was a clear indication that new changes must be sympathetic to the surroundings and neighbours. But as you have said Rowland, its worth having a conversation first as its free and if the neighbours had done this they could have saved a £1000 or so as they had drawings done. Aparenty Britan wasn't ready for the modern 60's buildings at the time so they put the wall hung tiles on to help them blend in to period properties. Know it looks really dated because of the tiles!!! I don't know if I am brave enough to to change the visual appearance too much and think just revive everything would be a 'safer' way to go. Going back to the cavity wall. Did you see there were some cut down bricks near the front edge when you look at the end face of the wall? That what was making me think there might be a cavity and as you have said in the 60's they should have been doing them. The energy EPC report assumes cavity. If anyone else thinks not cavity please let me know before I get quotes done. I think there are powered glass type insulation and also expanding foam types. But as you said it may trap water and or cause thermal bridging. I will have to research it but potentially saving £200-300 per year would help the energy bill. Thanks again Aaron
