back French door set next to Sliding Door set - georgian bars or not?
Comments (3)Personally no Georgian bars on the doors, but its personal preference. If its just the doors and no windows in the dining area it should look fine, and will have a complete clear view out?...See MoreFront door with clear or frosted glass side panels?
Comments (11)In which case, I would be inclined to go for clear and as you said, you can always add frosted vinyl. The only other slight consideration is what can you see in your house from the front door if someone was peering in. We changed ours as we changed our hallway and made a large double opening, so you could quite literally see all the way through into the kitchen and then out to the garden as the back of the house has a lot of glass. If it was more just a visible hallway I don't think we would have bothered changing it! We changed the glass in our downstairs toilet and the handyman got it wrong and used clear glass! We bought a cut to size frosted panel and it went on beautifully and works really well. You wouldn't know to look at it that it's not frosted glass. Definitely go for pre-cut though as cutting them yourself can look very amateur :)...See Moreputting life back in to a post war town house.
Comments (0)HUB Architects were invited by a High End developer to provide Interior Design proposals and Architectural Details for the reconfiguration of a post war town-house located near Hyde Park. The brief eventually allowed us to provide a full Architecture, Interior Design with FF&E service. The building was taken back to it's shell giving us flexibility to remodel with a spatial rhythm of broad open plan rooms and more intriguing smaller spaces. HUB devised an eclectic scheme that referenced mid-century design with some Classical details. The space planning allowed for maximum light and transparency to flow through the floors. At the same time the subdivision of space with arch ways and antechambers creates more intimate corners without closing the open plan form. The provision of bespoke joinery has given us the opportunity to articulate and integrate cooling discretely. It has also allowed us to detail playful portals including a hidden entrance to a “Narnia” bathroom. The unusually flowing stair handrail sits comfortably along side the Gio-Ponte style railings and door at the front of the original building, thus ensuring that the design intent is threaded throughout the building....See MoreFrench Door Openings - unable to swing back 180'
Comments (2)I just finding a lot of todays regs is health and safety gone mad. My previous French doors fitted by Coldseal, yes probably 15yrs or so ago were pretty wide and could be hooked practically back to the wall, never ever had a problem with the doors dropping or safety and my kids were little back then. It seems the minute you put a new build part onto an older house practically all the character has to go, all new fire doors, goodbye to my lovely old cottage doors, cant have open plan kitchen diner if stairs in middle of house, so gotta put fire doors up between kitchen and dining room, unless you live in London, and then its ok to have a 4k sprinkler, but even thats not good enough if you live where I live.Dont get me wrong my house will look amazing and its been a massive challenge ,never done anything like this before just no my builder well and fell in love with my house and wanted to renovate. The hardest thing being I want everything signed off as passing regs so I no certain corners so to speak cannot be cut....See MoreA S
