The brief from the client was to reinvent a corner of the garden transforming it from a redundant play area into a relaxing space that could be enjoyed by all the family. The design had to ensure that the new area blended well with the open plan, contemporary-style of the rest of the garden while still delivering a design in keeping with the idea of outdoor lounging. Hi there. Pleased that you like it. Trampolines can be a real challenge, particularly in a contemporary space and often we 'sink' them so they are less intrusive in the overall scheme as illustrated in this work-in-progress pic

Some kind of terrace roof will allow you to use the space through more of the year. Umbris patio/terrace roofs have automated louvres in the roof so that you can allow sunlight to bath the terrace when nice weather. when it is raining the louvres close flat to create a fully watertight terrace cover (important in UK to use an outdoor space for more than a few months of the year). I agree with the others about removing the small bushes - as it will open the garden up and let light in. I shared this picture to show how much impact a very narrow border can give. I planted it all white - but I have lovely coloured borders too :) My advice would be to get on with it. This only took 14 months to get this established, and plants/borders can easily be moved! Good luck. Also - a circle around the bottom of your beautiful tree would allow for a great and simple splash of colour, either for spring bulbs and perennials or bedding plants!

The prevailing wind down our client's garden meant they had little comfort sitting out, even on a pleasant day. So we created a sheltered outdoor lounge area to give them some protection from the breeze. This was created using a raised bed with rendered walls with a cedar screen that encloses the area, tall planting has been incorporated on the other side of the screen to reduce the airflow and create a tranquil place that they can finally relax in.

That looks amazing, really works well in the scheme. They can be hard to create a more "adult" look around but that looks fab!

Love the new use of the space. When a trampoline is no longer useful, you can always turn the hole into a pond!
