I know this CAN be a fabulous room ... I just lost my way a little
Comments (660)So funny! I'm planning to paint the bannister at the new house (TNH) black and am veering towards painting the treads and risers black too... I've been searching for images of black staircases on Houzz and putting them in my entrance hall ideabook. They are few and far between. In your case, I think, with your white walls, maybe the stairs white and the bannister black? (Assuming the white walls continue up the stair walls enabling the b/w contrast.) You've already put black firmly into the equation, adding some more may give more reason for the black rad cab. In my case, there is a very off-centre radiator that could so very easily have been directly opposite the front door in TNH which is rather annoying as it stuffs up the focal point. We are leaving here with every radiator covered with a cabinet - and going to TNH that has loads of radiators ...but no cabinets! Yes, the work ahead is daunting - especially since the area of Ireland we're going to is very basic and not full of DIY resources, etc. I keep thinking I'll paint TNH white - to make things simpler(!) But try as I may colour keeps wandering through my mind! Lovely to be in touch again!...See MoreBudget garden makeover
Comments (47)Hello All, hope you're having a lovely Saturday - just saw Wales win their first Euro 16 match; very happy, now waiting for England. Quick update: cut the grass on a high setting following advice and did some weeding. Decided to jet wash the patio but found that my garden hose had holes in it. Had to dash, in the rain, to Poundstretcher to get a new one. I've never used a jet wash power and had a little taster. See below. Tomorrow, I hope to wash the patio properly but it's hard work. Tommy Turtle's looking a lot better and you can the slabs that I've done so far. Think I need to sweep first as the moss was flying everywhere! A little comparison, of what can be. Hopefully, I will post the results tomorrow. How is everyone getting on with their projects? Keep posting!...See MoreWin a two-night stay in London and a visit to designjunction! CLOSED

Comments (629)Hi Andrea Brooks We can totally understand your dilemma - ‘Magnolia’ is certainly not for everyone! Different colours can evoke different moods and feelings, so don’t limit yourself to one colour throughout your whole house. Dark moody tones work brilliantly in bedrooms, and have been proven to help induce better sleep. Our favourite at the moment is Dulux’s Denim Drift. Bright, fresh colours are great for kitchens, and for creating a lively happy atmosphere. I love Dulux Coral Canyon which is really uplifting. Finally, dusted blues and greens have amazing calming qualities, and are fantastic for any rooms you want to relax and unwind in. Dulux Dusted Moss is a beautiful, versatile colour that will suit most styles of property, either traditional or modern. If you are cautious about using colour, why not introduce it slowly through your accessories, or as a feature wall, as these can be easily updated and replaced. Good luck and we would love to see the results. Hannah Dulux Amazing Space www.designer.duluxamazingspace.co.uk...See MoreSela M
