I need help for my loft bedroom

Dear Houz & Houz readers,
I really want to get some design help and redecoration help for my loft room. Right now, its just totally cluttered, has chipped plaster in places, I've had a new window put in so there are unfinished edges around that too.
I'd love to get a designer to help me but am so worried it will cost more than my budget will allow. Please help me find a designer to help me bring the wow factor to my bedroom!

Hi, I agree with Nancy a white wooden bed would be great in your bedroom especially as you have painted your door white and your skirting is white also, or alternatively a darker grey fabric headboard would also be stunning with white bedding.. Wall colour is a very personal choice but i would recommend a light grey by The little Greene company No. 224 (INOX) i think it would work well with your existing patten and will not be to over powering in the room. See link: http://www.littlegreene.com/paint/colour/grey-paint-colours/inox-224 I would re-sintall the fireplace if you can as would bring back that classic look you are going for, keeping a white surround or shelf would also keep the room feeling light and airy. Pop some frames or artwork up on the walls behind the bed and maybe a mirror about the fireplace (if you re-install) and i think you will have a very stunning bedroom. Hi there The best person to help you is a trained designer who can stand with you in the loft and go through your requirements point by point. In order to design well it's important to have a good understanding of the space. What is the Available headroom and slope? How the light comes in? What is your budget? What's going on in the rest of the house? Does the space as designed flow? How tall are you? How physically fit are you? Do you have young children? Where will the ironing board be? Do you like ironing? etc The person who knows the answers to the questions above will come up with a better design than the person who does not know. Hi Marinela, There are lots of ways of doing this but the obvious issue is that it has to safe for the boys. I have enclosed a few ideas, hope this helps. None of these could be classed as the perfect solution but you can take ideas from each and miix & match. You need to consider the stair construction, the examples shown are in timber but a carpet would be softer and safer for the kids. If you do go for wood I would add some raised metal strips onto the tread to add grip. Here are a few balustrade ideas: I had to add this one in, its fun !!! The colours could be added with a rubber flooring material, lots of grip and will soften the edges. As the kids get older you can carpet over for a more contemporary look. If you could take everything out and then paint it white, you will have a clearer vision of the space. ( By the way, you don't paint around the lights, you pull them down and pop the springs out, then paint and put them back ).

Post a whole pic of the space taken from the door so that we can see the whole thing. Taking snap shots of little areas is ok for you, you know what they are and where they are but we can't visualise the space,

A little floor plan would be really helpful too.

You need to think about what you want to use the room for, then look at likely furniture placement and the furniture that has to stay, lastly you need to unify the scheme with decorating and soft furnishings which will be easier to decide upon when you know what is staying ( for instance is there a carpet that has to stay)
The obvious problems to resolve are:
the clutter - which will likely be resolved with a good clear out- you could also build storage cupboards under the slope of the roof assuming this doesn't make the room the wrong size to accommodate whatever else you may need.
The poor quality walls- which will look better for freshening up with paint- a good decorator will fill holes and recommend a really flat paint which will help. A good decorator will pop the lights out to paint well. If this room is going to be a bedroom then it may be worth getting additional softer lighting.
Lastly you seem to have 2 small velux windows at heights that don't match which doesn't help with a polish look. If I was going to use this as a bedroom I might consider replacing them with a statement window.
Lastly thanks for the pics but they are so close to things it is hard to visualise the whole room- any chance of a wider pic and a plan?

I agree take out all the clutter & then take a picture of the room as a whole as we can't see it properly. What styles do you like always a starting point. No good us saying French or shabby chic if you like modern contemporary etc.
