I just downsized to a small condo and have been thinning out my collection of books drastically. I am going to have most of one wall in my living room lined with Whittier "classic" bookshelves painted to match the walls. These shelves are purchased unfinished and I am painting them myself. By getting all the same height and a mix of single or double wide shelving units, I can make these look like built ins when they're all lined up together. One thing I learned from my 4 years living in Southern California is to always make sure my shelves are firmly attached to the wall. I use Quakehold steel safety fasteners. Hey SB, I just got the updates you posted today so time difference and life business adds to not being on here. I'm glad you like the color palette. I would go for the light blue or turquoise on the walls rather than the navy because of the small room. I hope the ABA works well for you. I've heard good things about it from others I'm in a Facebook group with. We are well here. Band competitions have been our life since mid-September after school began. They end next week. Son plays saxophone.

The smart compact kitchen is an ingenious use of limited space! We love the innovative design and the different levels and widths of the shelves make it both interesting to look at and functional. The makeshift breakfast bar is a great addition as it gives the end user flexibility to create more space when necessary. We LOVE it!

I was also going to suggest Ikea's Ivar: super flexible, comes in three heights, two widths, two depths and a corner option, with as many or as few shelves as you need. Raw solid pine and you finish it yourself, it's fantastic value. I've attached two photos of it in my (small London) flat and you can see it's adjusted for CDs, files, books of different sizes, display etc. This is the medium height and 30cm deep one.
