Any ideas/suggestions on what colour I should paint my kitchen
Comments (11)We also have a north east facing kitchen, we used farrow and balls, Purbeck stone on our wall of units at the back of the kitchen (its warmer than using grey which can look cold in a north facing room), pelt on our peninsula and dimity on the walls, it give off pink hues during the day and is (nice) sort of creamy beige in the evening / on dull days. We took samples of our flooring and work top to a F&B shop/consultant and they were really helpful in confirming that the colours we wanted would work in our N/E facing room. I was pretty fixed on the the purbeck stone and pelt and it was they that suggested using dimity on the walls. Also as already suggested, tester pots and paint on large pieces of paper that you can move around the room is a good idea....See MoreAny layout photos for a dining room/library /study please
Comments (7)Thank you all. I’m up to my eyes with tradesmen as this is a full house Reno so days are disappearing . Hoping photos come through this time. Taken from the doorway looking towards conservatory which is the “window” . Only other windows are two small original lead lights to either side of French doors. No fireplace. Other aspects if the home will be traditional / contemporary to stay in keeping with the age and characteristics already present. Informal dining will will be in the kitchen , which will be used most. This room will be dinner parties , special occasions , so I thought perhaps a table that could extend . I don’t want garden type furniture in the conservatory but I have seen rattan chairs that look casual but definitely smart too. My problem is that I see lovely bits and pieces but I don’t think they tie the rooms together. I am hitting a blank , so was hoping that someone might have more ideas radical or otherwise that can assist. My benefit is that at present I have no furniture for either room so I have flexibility. Thank you all so much for your time. much appreciated....See MoreAny ideas what paint colour this is?
Comments (31)There are virtually no paint colours that are true 'grey' as in made from pure black and pure white. They are all a 'colour'. Paint companies could help us out by naming the 'mother hue' - for example, Downpipe would be blue, but if they were to do that, we would not buy millions of test pots and that would mean they would make a lot less profit. Additionally, they could simply explain what hue the various colours belong to and describe how the colour may change in different lights. If only companies such as Farrow and Ball had on their website a boxy North, South, East and West facing room which showed their colours at different times of day we would all be so well informed. Of course, they pay lip service to this by making little suggestions, but in reality they could go much further. In addition I do wonder if we are often seduced by a beautiful room with lovely period details than the actual 'colour'. I sound cynical because I am....See MoreF&B paint colour for north facing study
Comments (11)I think it depends on what else you have in the room. My Mum has a north facing room with lots of yew furniture- she painted it Vardo and it look superb. Given it’s a study it likely there is not much wall showing and plenty of furniture so I say choose a colour that works for you rather than a neutral then break it up with plenty of pics. Separately I have always used Daiseys trick of getting Johnson’s to mix the Farrow and Ball Colour. I’m not sure you save that much but you do keep your decorator happy- I would add that during the pandemic the quality of the colour matching and the quality of the paint at Johnson’s has gone down. Right now I would buy the real Farrow and Ball paint....See Moreslimberley
