Need help with kitchen layout
Comments (4)I think the seating area should face away from the kitchen area. Just a couple of things to consider:- 1). Is it possible to change the double door bottom right? If you can change to a single door ( double door if you really want one ) but further along the wall it allows for better placement of furniture, 2). Change the position of the Skylight that is up by the window bottom left. Mirror it's position to match the one over the kitchen. ( make sure they have openers, flies, bees, wasps etc congregate under them, and will drive you crazy if they can't get out ) 3) Change the window facing in to the garden to bi-fold doors or patio doors to allow light to go from one end of the room to the other and allow access to the garden and a view of it from the seating / relaxing area. 4). Have the seating relaxing area on the wall opposite the kitchen and facing away from it. When seated you will then not have to look at the kitchen, and will get a view of the garden through the bi-fold doors. 5) Lastly, as an after thought, consider moving the kitchen along to the right a little and have a return top left to afford more units under the window?...See MoreKitchen layout help needed
Comments (5)Hi - there’s two options for obtaining a kitchen design usually ... Either going to somewhere that sells kitchen and they will do one for you for free, in the hope that you will buy from them. (They make a markup on what you buy to cover their costs and make a profit.) they most likely won’t let you take the design away with you though. Or you can pay for an independent design to be done with you involved at each stage... it means you can approach any shops and ask them to price your layout more like a tradesman might do - so often you can ask for discounts etc and you can easily compare like for like with quotes as they are all the same layout. (If it were us - we’d work on your project over a Monday to Friday time slot, but unlike like most build trades we price per project and not a day rate - so your kitchen would be about the same price as a good dishwasher.) Either way you get a design done to suit your space - the second way it suits your lifestyle and family too as you are involved with the design process. If this house is a long term home it’s probably worth getting it designed specifically for you ( independent route ).... if you are doing up the house to sell then a generic plan will usually be fine ( first option ). Hope that helps !...See MoreKitchen layout, help needed!
Comments (4)Hi Leighton, Beautiful extension. I completely see a bank of tall units and storage on the wall between the two doors, then an L shaped kitchen ending in a curved end by the steps to the sitting room. There would be space for a 90cm wide island if you wanted, slightly under the 1m rule but if that's ok with you and it's not too long, I think that would be fine whilst creating somewhere to sit and additional workspace. If you want any help visualising the new space before spending a lot of money on a new kitchen, get in touch and we can have a chat about how I might be able to help you Emily x...See MoreVery long room.... kitchen/diner layout..help needed!
Comments (9)plenty of room i'd say! i'd stick it in the bottom end behind a wall of tall units for the kitchen (fridge, freezer, oven tower, pantry) and then have base units only along the wall facing bay window (to keep it bright and airy and maximise the width of the room as much as possible). then the bay window could be a lovely built-in seated area for table, or there's space for an island and then the bay window becomes circulation space. the top end looks like glass all the way round? so assuming dining table would go there - but if you did the window seat and table then that could be seating area instead....See MorePWJ Architects Ltd
