We've just had the same dilemma, we also have underfloor heating. We've decided to go with grey wood effect porcelain tiles which can be used inside and out. Apart from concrete, porcelain seemed to be the only option we found. I've been told they are very difficult to damage, although obviously not impossible, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I have ceramic tiles in my utility room and they have been cracked twice but the porcelain tiles in my bathroom have been fine despite a few bottles being dropped on them.

Flooring from lounge to kitchen to patio

Hi, I'm having an extension and would like flooring to be similar/same from the kitchen diner into patio through bi-fold doors. My question is the lounge. I was having stone/porcelain outside (maybe driftwood or slate tile effect) and karndean in kitchen but that won't look right in the lounge. Any ideas please? I like the idea of the same throughout but worried it might be too same-y. Hall not an issue as it's a small closed off square, I'm going old fashioned tile pattern, so there's a natural break. Thanks

Quick Q ... they use a resin for pointing so we don’t get weeds growing through (yay!) but I have a choice of natural (too light), grey or black. The tiles are black limestone which actually look mid grey but darker slightly when sealed and can look black when wet. The grey resin isn’t very dark. Black might be too harsh. Any thoughts??

Sounds cheap. I had the decking on my small patio (13 sq m) removed, type 1 laid (it’s like tiny rubble which stabilises the patio) and porcelain tiles laid, including a special drain cover and grid draining near the house. It took 2 men 8 days to complete it, including the removal of the old deck and base. My costs were Materials (type 1, tile adhesive, drains and drain cover). £500 Labour (8 days). £1600 Total. £2100 The paving I bought separately at £420. Granted the removal of the old deck took a couple of days so that was an extra cost.
