Lego tape is awesome! I am in USA so bought online https://stickybricky.com/products/stickybricky-lego-tape , its expensive if you want to decorate a large space though! Maybe I'll learn to 3D print my own lego tape

I helped my Dad build a fire pit in his garden, he made wooden seats to sit around the metal fire pit with old stone columns for extra seating (unfortunately you can't see the actual fire-pit as behind the stone bench). Lots of stories and fun are had around it until deep into the night. If you have the space it is a great addition to put in! Shannon

Do you prefer fireplace or TV furniture as focal point of living room

Your views pls: we have a large flat screen TV positioned centrally on the chimney breast (not clear on the photo), however the fireplace is offset, not central to the chimney breast. We originally fitted the TV central to the fireplace but it didn't look right as the TV overlapped the right hand edge of the chimney breast. It just doesn't look right in either position. Would it be better in the left alcove (it just fits the width) or the right alcove (which is wider) above one of the bookcases? The other consideration is the TV leads, they cannot be chased into the old stone walls. The sockets are on the left alcove. Thoughts anyone?

Whilst I recognise there's a few tradespeople on here bemoaning fussy clients I have to say my biggest regrets when renovating my house was not being specific enough with trades! We had an electrician put in an extra light switch in the hall to control both the downstairs and upstairs lighting. He put it in a good 10-15cm lower than the other switch further along the same wall which looked completely ridiculous. Made him move it in line with the other one much to his annoyance. Another similar incident was with a vertical column rad for the kitchen - whilst I was specific enough this time to ask it be centered to the wall it was on, he installed it much higher than needed with about 30cm of pipe sticking out the bottom! It would have looked much better in line with the doorframe adjacent. Had to learn to live with that one. We had engineered wood floors put in upstairs - the fitter used the shortest wall in the smallest room to take a plumbline from. When it came into the hall it was obviously on a complete wonk. By this point I'd gotten a bit better at speaking up and ensuring we actually got what was needed (and paid for!). He had to take it up and re-lay using the hall as the plumbline. Looked so much better but he was extremely annoyed! After all this I learned to use masking tape to direct exactly where pipes/light switches/trim should be fitted so there was no room for 'interpretation'. I also forced myself to speak up more and advocate for what I really wanted. That said I'm a designer by trade so I generally know what I want and how to make it look good but was definitely a bit too shy to contradict trades in the beginning!

Oooh sorry for the silence LOL!! It's been a busy few days! However we doooo have progress I think! We have not gone for Just Walnut (sorry sandy!!) but we did find a grey that we both like and think will work! Hurrah!! Wierdly it's actually got a hint of very soft green to it - Valspar Moonshot! I've painted a huge board with it and placed it all around the room and I think it looks fab in all lights. Hubby still needs to see it in daylight (he leaves and comes home from work in the dark!) but It changes from a pure warm grey, to a very gentle soft mossy green/grey in certain lights. Despite it not being what we thought we wanted, we both think this works for us the best. It complements the view onto the garden, looks fab with our oak and darker flooring, and will work well with the green kitchen (fingers crossed!) Ive spent the last couple of days doing filling sanding and cleaning up of the walls and skirting, so if all goes well colour will be bought and going on shortly! Ill post pics - kind of excited and nervous of doing it though, sad huh? :D
