Paint or stain dresser?
Comments (8)In that case I agree and go with a stained top but definitely paint the underneath. You could try a coloured wax which I think will be the best match for the table. There’s a few brands but this one has many good reviews: https://www.wood-finishes-direct.com/product/fiddes-wax Just remember that with wax the more layers you apply the deeper the tone in colour but nicer sheen. Whichever way you do it the cabinet will need sanding first for best results. Good luck and keep us updated. Don’t hesitate if you have more questions, myself and other houzzers will likely chip in:-)...See Morewhat colour to paint my decking?

Comments (10)Hi, Thanks for the comments. In all honesty the decking was here when we arrived. We have been here 2years and not done anything to it as it was in quite good shape. There was previously a dark brown stain on which I removed with a jet wash and some scrubbing. I had not noticed any cracking or lifting of the previous stain, we just wanted a new colour. Of course there are some cracks in the wood but the new stain is now flaking off and it's been on for only 2 weeks. I put it on towards the end of the good weather. Was a decent day but not too hot, and allowed plenty of drying time before it rained later the next day. Some of this stain is lifting where there aren't any cracks and it's also areas that are not walked on. Doesn't seem normal to me? Showing the cracks is one thing and I wouldn't expect a stain to fill the wood, but I also wouldn't expect a stain to crumble and lift off after such a short time. Seller has offered me some sealer but I'm not convinced and wonder if I should strip this off and go for an oil?...See Moreadelemalcolm12
