New seaside kitchen

We are having anew kitchen installed in kitchen/dining/sitting room. Decided on antique white with oak worktop to keep light and airy. Need to keep limed oak dining table and chairs. Cannot lay wooden floor as kitchen already under construction, suggestions please for flooring material and colour. Young Grandchildren visit this property so needs to be practical as well as attractive. Flooring will butt up to carpet in sitting room
