Anthracite Grey or White Windows?! Please help!
Comments (9)I think grey would look fine. White would stand out and contrast too much with the roof tiles. If you notice, windows actually look dark from the outside when the lights are off anyway. It's more discrete for the frame to be anthracite grey. I hope your project goes well!...See MoreByee Byee White UPVC! Hello anthracite grey UPVC
Comments (8)Yes I've seen a number of postwar houses made over in the style you describe- cedar cladding, dark grey windows, usually some white rendering too. Door is generally replaced with a modern style in wood or dark grey. It works very well.. My only caution would be to get the internal layout decided before shelling out for windows and doors just in case you find you want to move a window or door slightly (which is not a big deal usually)....See MoreAnthracite grey upvc french doors or white?
Comments (9)Yes, if you just wish to freshen up your windows and they are in good order, painting them makes good use of what you have. If the supplier is reputable with a good guarantee on the product you will be covered against warping and big draughts. I believe that slight ventilation is usually required to avoid condensation. Our timber windows are around 140 years old and still going strong with no warping. I do urge people to consider the health benefits for the family - clean air in your home. In the long run, with timber windows last at least 6 times the age the value for money of timber which outweighs the cost of painting within one lifetime alone. Also timber will not be adding to landfill or use as much energy to create. Finally the character and quality of finish is much different. Here is a comparison for you. According to this timber costs less too. https://www.wwf.org.uk/sites/default/files/2017-06/windows_0305.pdf Hope that helps in time! Thank you for sharing and we hope to see some photos!
