Need help with kitchen colours
Comments (9)White/cream would be really nice, I'd be a bit cautious with having brown, cream and cranberry as it could end up looking a bit heavy with colour tone's as none of these colours will be prominent enough to break up the brown from the worktop and the floor. Not sure if I've explained it too well, let me know! Also I'm not sure how much research you've done with wood worktops yet but they do involve a fair amount of maintenance in comparison to a quartz worktop. Regular oiling is needed to avoid getting stains and the walnut going black around the sink. That being said it really is a beautiful worktop material to have in the kitchen, incredibly eye catching and very classical too. Granite and quartz are both stones but that's really about where the characteristics of them - granite needs sealing to avoid any staining or scratching or the surface, however it does take a lot of effort for that to happen. Quartz is granite with all the 'negative characteristics' taken out of it - it's lighter, it's scratch and stain resistant and generally a little bit more durable. I don't really like to post too many links to our website but I feel this page is perfect for you http://worktops.co/granite-quartz-worktops/ - it tells you about granite and quartz, and if you scroll down there's lots of sample pictures for you to see and decide if you prefer granite or quartz. Comments (7)I have wood effect ceramic tiles in my hallway and kitchen. They chip very easily...I'm left with specks of white which looks very much like paint :( gutted. I have Karndean in my lounge. It's very durable and easy to clean which is ideal as I have a 3 year old and a dog. I'll no doubt get bored of it before I actually need to replace it! I don't know how but I do have a couple of light scratches but I think that was from moving day, it's withstood a lot and holding up well! It does feel softer than laminate and doesn't have the echo and noise underfoot you get with laminate....See MoreHelp needed for open plan kitchen lounge diner floor
Comments (17)Thanks urban space - we don't have under floor heating and the wood floor we had fitted about 5/6 yrs ago has been a nightmare. We did have an expansion joint but had so much movement and warping. We had the company back out beginning of this year and we had wanted to have a new floor at that stage but they said they could put right the existing one. Not sure on the technical term for what they did but they effectively relaid/ straightened it and used a resin with wood chips in to fill the gaps so you couldn't see them but within 5/6 months we have movement again and now all this resin is starting to rise out the top. For that reason I'm just not prepared to have a proper wood floor again - it might be down to the fitters but it has been extremely costly. By the time you add our dog into the mix and the scratches he has added to it I think a fake wood effect is the way to go for us...See Moresuggestions for wall paint and floor tiles (kitchen diner)
