We would recommend you go for a neutral palette for your tiles with another colour / texture / pattern on a feature wall. You can also go for polished tiles on the walls so that it can reflect the light. Introducing full width mirror behind the basin and toilet will also help reflect the light and will give you the sense of depth. Hope this helps.

Comments (27)Hi the floor tiles we are using are from tops tiles , I can't see them on their website but they have them in their shop . They are dark grey/ black 30x60 and are Matt but in certain lights have a very tiny sparkle . Not the ones with big sparkly bits and that are shiny . If I go in again I will find out the name . Comments (0)I have posted on here for help with bathroom. . Also have another dilemma. Trying to redecorate, refurbish a holiday apartment in seafront Victorian mansion flat. Can anyone suggest a paint colour to go in this north facing bedroom. We're not keen on the curtain colour, but would prefer not to change them to keep costs down. The Windows have a bad outlook so will be putting privacy film on Windows to hide bad view We tried F&B Cornforth White, but thought it may be a bit too dark. Comments (14)Hi Emma. For a long narrow room (relatively speaking as it isn't narrow!), you could paint the 2 short walls the dark colour as this will "correct" the room's proportions rather than paint the long wall as it will accentuate the length. Alternatively you'd normally paint the fireplace wall to highlight the feature. I think as you've got doors it should break it up a bit but I'd do the doors in the same colour. I would probably go for something a bit richer than pitch blue, like Hague blue. I know whose room that is you've pictured in the 2nd pic so will try and find the colour but am sure it was a valspar paint! You could also try downpipe which works well in a north facing room. I'd probably put these with warm whites/neutrals rather than grey. Elephants breath can work really well in a north facing room but can also just look grey and agree with littlesongs comments! You could also go dark on all walls and layer the lighting, add mirrors etc. Or if you decide light then people can make colour suggestions for that :)...See MoreEp Ki

6 years agoIm posting a pic which may help. Its the only pic l have if this project but you will get an idea. The floor and one wall are tiled with hardwood effect ceramic tiles and the other three walls with matt cream. The bath, loo and basin are all white with stainless steel fittings, mirror and lighting. The basin sits on a real teak dresser. All towels etc are bright bamboo green and kingfisher blue. There is a white linen cupboard with glass pane doors and turq ceramic knobs; there is a turq bin and toilet brush set, turq glass soap set. There's just a tiny window but the room looks and feels real fun and warm.

6 years agoI agree with earlier comments. Avoid anything with a blue undertone and choose a tile with a yellow or brown quality to it..... in fact this applies to all bathrooms- in my opinion this is a water room and doesn't need extra blue.
Consider the decoration at a local hotel spa- they always tend to be warm earthy colour a with wood and lush green plants. Don't feel that you have to go pale in colour as a dark colour can also work as long as you choose reflective surfaces.... which means get a polished tile (or one with a Metallic quality or textured so it catches the light) and have a big mirror.

6 years agoThis is my North facing bathroom. The tiles are porcelanosa apart from the quartzite mosaics.The floor tiles are a warm grey and the stone is a lovely olive colour. Walls and ceiling skimming stone Farrow and Ball. I love it so much that I am doing the same thing in my kitchen at the moment.

As it’s a north facing space cooler toned colours will look dull and unappealing.
Instead you should opt for any colour that has a warm toned base. If you wanted to be really adventurous, you could go for a full coverage darker or jewel toned colour to create a more dramatic, opulent space. This will play with the proportions and the light and create a more snug, cosy feel.
