Hello. Thank you for visiting our Houzz profile. For this project we used unsealed oak boards and finished them after installation. Therefore a relevant sample can be done after installation on a larger section of the floor of about 1 sqm. Starting from that we can adjust the white intensity.

Lol AMW. There's about 15cm from top of window to ceiling & the walls are cement blocks (so no recess space). The tiled 'secret' drawer compartment looks pretty cool though. I've got a cabinet being made in oak which will have to be sufficient for my daughter. The only thing I haven't decided on yet is the punter colour material to go with my java marble tile. So any pictures or links of suitable countertop/bench tops to go with the tile & oak cabinet would be grand :)

Help me choose kitchen worktops and possible splashback/tiles

Hi, I've now had quartz worktops fitted in a white with grey and mirror flecks (compact lactea) & attach photos. Cabinets are all done too. My next area is what to do for splashback behind the hob/under the extractor. I originally wanted to do red glass across the length of the wall, but we have had under unit lights fitted below the higher cabinets and at night I can change these to any colour I want. If I do red all across I won't get the effect of the lights. Not even sure red would go? The wooden chairs are going and will be replaced & I still need to choose my island lights (thinking 3 pendants hanging). Husband thinks stainless steel sheet behind hob. I'm not sure this will look right with dark glass hob under it & wonder if it is hard to look clean all the time. What ideas do you all have as you helped with the worktops. I also show the dining table and the new open lounge area (intend to put a rug down). We also still need to find wall lights.

Hello clarefin, It's a good idea to have the fridge freezer where it is and you could box this in with "Slim" pullout larders either side if there is room.. Could you have a galley? I do like these as opposed to L or U shaped kitchens personally.. The fridge freezer could have a cabinet front for example with double height larders either side on the galley start as another option... You might also consider an island with cooking elements facing the french doors and the island could also morph into a dining table..So this could give you more room. I quite like the two doors and depending on where windows are I'd leave these, if you can still get a good run on the cabinetry and worktop... Consider materials you like, how you cook and move around the kitchen as this too will help you to define what you want out of the space.. Also the things... ! I find when designing kitchens that the what often dictates the where both spatially, architecturally and aesthetically... : ))

The bath will need to be a standing tap (if that is correct term) as it’s a freestanding bath and will be under a big window so no tiles behind it. Sink and loo not bought yet so still flexible with that. It’s the loo that’s throwing me really, I can’t imagine it with a gold coloured handle or button? I was planning on a concealed cistern but open to suggestion! I suppose my choice is either commit to the gold throughout or treat it like a bathroom ‘of two halves’ and have my Morrocan-esque shower enclosure and keep the rest of it quite simple with the usual silver fittings. We will probably also have wooden panelling behind the sink and loo as it’s already there where the bath will go. The shower is kind of in its own corner…sorry it sounds so complicated!!
