Tile dilemma - too bold?
Comments (8)Personally I don't think it will work with white subway tiles on the walls. If the white of the subway tiles is different then that may be a problem, also the sizes of the tiles need to work. I would say there should be a substantial difference in size in the floor tiles and the walls tiles, otherwise it may look mismatched and a bit busy. This floor tiles is lovely but quite 'attention seeking'. It would look good with something like polished plaster walls - which is not what you want. What size are these tiles?...See MoreI'm feeling brave but maybe I'm too bold - first time owner
Comments (14)Dear Jen P, Casa Colori and all Thank You for your thoughts and encouragement ... I guess having renovated the whole flat (new electrics, boiler, plaster, 70's decor ripped out etc etc) its just that final signature on it. And the budget is running a lot lower now :@ Ive ordered the floor which is way over my initial budget but hey it's for life ! from Reclaimed Wood Flooring 'Castle Oak, sanded / unfinished' Which I hope will compliment the colours and add an earthy honest feel to the place and a through line between rooms. luckily am getting light from the kitchen windows (south facing) into the little living room, as well as a large window (West facing) in it. Though the light is blocked by the building directly opposite. so it can be quite dark at times. Planning on a big round mirror which I hope will reflect light across the room My hope is a room to sit and conjure in...See MoreSmall downstairs cloakroom with washing/dryer machines too plus cloak
Comments (1)Right, so to begin with I would completely get ride of the curtains covering your selves and have sliding doors installed. The reason I say sliding doors is to help maximise your space. I would also have the walls repainted or even covered in a bold printed wallpaper - this'll help add life and character to the small space. Check out Cole & Son for some fab paper or Farrow and Ball for amazing paint. In terms of the cloakroom area, I wouldn't change much as the space is already quite tight. I would simply advise you to continue the colour/paper from the restroom throughout. Depending on your budget, I would advise you to have a smaller sink and a back to wall wc installed which will also help maximise space. Hope you find this info useful and good luck!...See MoreIs it possible to have a bold but small bathroom?
Comments (14)I love bronze (wish there was more around!) and it looks fab with teal (I know the 3rd pic is copper but the wall colour looked stunning!). I've not seen these in person but the multipanel patina bronze panels (waterproof) looks quite effective in the photos (first 2 pics). I'd go for a mid tone on the floor as you'll have dark walls, cabinet and then light with the sanitary ware. I personally quite like brass with bronze for the taps and they will stand out against the wood. Is there a reason you can't have tiles on the floor?...See MoreAngela Gilham
