Shower position

I'm wondering with the shower being next to the bath without a screen does it create much water mess? If using the shower does it splash all over the bath etc?

I am sure that some water would go onto the bath, but taking into account that it is also a wet area, it shouldn't cause too many issues.

If it turns out that it has been fixed incorrectly, then the plumber / builder need to foot the bill. Did you explain that you were having that type of unit? It's quite normal to have shower mixer valves at that height, but not the stand alone electric ones, maybe he thought that's what you were having???Also just a thought, that if this as this is a new installation there may now be building regs that dictate what height they can be. The allowed heights of electric sockets and light switches have all been changed after all.

Is that 2 towels rails in there as one is not labelled? If so Option B isn't good because of the intrusion of the towel rail by the door and the fact you'd have to walk around it to get to the vanity unit, but to be honest I'm not keen on Option A either because I'd want the towels rails close to the shower/bath and the vanity basin. I wouldn't want to walk over to the other side of the room with wet hands dripping all over the floor.

So... managed to find time to discuss it late last night, and we definitely like the idea of being able to make bed 3 larger. I've taken it slightly further in some ways but less in others to try and minimise the cost hopefully as bf thinks that regardless of what we do, it'll end up being prohibitively expensive to re-organise upstairs. This plan would : Keep doorways off the landing to bed 2/3 the same as they are currently (I appreciate the benefits of moving them in terms of not having it right at the top of the stairs, however there's still room for a stair gate at the top of the stairs (should we ever need one), and has never been a problem for us since we've been here regardless of who's stayed (almost 6 years). Removing your study area - we have a separate office/mancave downstairs, and I always work at the dining table even when I had an office space if doing work at home, allowing us to have a bigger family bathroom (maybe a pocket door) with hopefully room for a bath and walk in shower? (as actually the 2 bathrooms we'd be joining are quite compact!) Still quite a small landing area, which I appreciate is useful for general circulation space, but we'd be reluctant to cut into bed 3 more than we have to, and there'd be just enough room I think to have a small window which would hopefully make it feel more airy at least. FYI the pink line I've added is where we get full height ceilings back, as the front half of bed 2/3 mostly have sloped ceilings, except for where the dormers are, but they drop to about waist height at the front. The back wall of the ensuite would be the current back wall of the ensuite again to help reduce costs... Ideally I'd have preferred to creep it forward an extra 10-20cm to give that room to bed 3, however I think for such a small distance it's probably not worth having to knock down, and build another wall. What do people think? ? Obviously would still need to ask builders re cost etc and bf thinks I'm getting hopes up and it'll cost too much... (Anyone got any rough thoughts how much it might be?) but I did point out we could fit most of the bathroom stuff at a later date.

I think there are pros and cons. I agree it would be a good idea to look at the living room layout and how much seating you want and where you want the tv. Whilst I agree it’s lovely to have a view from a front door through to the garden for example it’s more just a glimpse as you’re passing through. In theory whilst you’re sat on a sofa (assuming it’s on that top wall) carrying out whatever activity will you actually be able/want to see through to the garden? Plus I’d consider how many daylight hours are spent in the living room. If you do move the door I’d be tempted to put an L sofa on the fireplace wall and then you couldn’t see out anyway! Reducing the breakfast bar does look as if you could swing the table the other way though and thus move the door over a little. However in reality the kitchen door is likely to be open at all times and you’ll still have that view out. i don’t think I’d bother, just get some comfy dining chairs to make the most of the garden view. I might also be tempted to keep the fire as a focal point unless you add a tv wall with bookcases etc instead. Hope my ramblings make sense 😂
