Curtain track

Hi, I am trying to find a curtain track and fix it in the ceiling but I don't know how works this. Most of the tracks are for the wall. Maybe I don't know how to do the research. Also, I need it double and more than 5m of length.

Is there a reason you want to fit it in the ceiling? Just asking because mine is attached to timbers that have been put onto our bay window ceiling in the lounge as I wanted long curtains and it was the only way to get around the curve of the bay.

You need to search for "top fix" or "ceiling fix" curtain rails. A brand called Swish does several styles, depending on how discreet or thin you need them to be. Silent gliss is another option. Some rails will have holes in so that you screw the rail directly to the ceiling. Some will have a bracket system that you screw into the ceiling. You will also have the choice between metal and plastic. I would suggest you go to an independent curtain shop and ask for advice for your specific need.

We moved into a house with bifold doors and I didn't want to spend an absolute fortune on large bespoke curtains for them. So I found some beautiful ones on the high street that were the correct height, then bought two pairs. I found an extra long curtain rail online and whilst I was going to originally sew the pairs together to make two large curtains - one either side of the door, I actually left them separate. This way I can pull three of the four closed but leave one pulled back on the opening side door, making access easier. Hope that makes sense!

Hi Lisa, I completely understand your dilemma, I'm moving house soon and have exactly the same type of window as you. My suggestion would be to have a Voile roller blind, as I know that you said you don't like Voile curtains. This would be a great way of keeping your privacy in the room, whilst still allowing plenty of light into your room. I'd then pair this with Dorma Window Curtain Poles (the would be to the side of the recess rather than within). I've attached images of both of my suggestions below. just what I was looking for. I have been looking and asking about these ceiling track's for years. Even the large main stores do not have them. it seemed most of the time no one new what they were never geared of them or said they went out years ago. I found that odd as I have seen them on photos on houzz. Thank You So Much Caroline.

I did exactly this in my last ensuite. And loved it. Actually I think yours is.ceiling mounted, the one I had was reset in, flush with the plaster. Anyways I bought mine from a curtain supplier :D Just let them know where it's going and you want hanging from it.

Hi Caro, you may find it difficult to fix the curtain track into the ceiling (the joints are not always lined up with the window and even if they are, you may not have one exactly in the right place).

If you are looking to get ceiling to floor curtains (which I highly recommend) you can do that by fitting the curtain track into the wall as well. Many wall fitted curtain tracks can be fitted very close to the ceiling, so in practise you don't really see any difference.

Visit a hight street department store that offers curtain track fitting (John Lewis, for example) and they will be able to tell you more about the tracks and fitting options. There is usually no pressure to buy, so you can just go and listen to their advice.
