Georgian apartment dilemma
Comments (6)Leave the brick, how about using a heavy duty hard wearing wallpaper with texture on the walls in grey or a feature wall? And use something interesting as a splash back. Our house is all grey and whites - white walls and mid-grey carpets. Kitchen is gloss white with concrete effect laminate worktop and vinyl mid grey tiles for flooring (quieter & warmer & safer). We have used a darker grey gloss ceramic tile as a splash back and it looks great. We are currently selling our house and have had 17 people through in two days...... the colours are obviously popular!!! Good Luck!...See MoreGeorgian open plan kitchen/living room
Comments (4)Well that would be brilliant I'll pop in tomorrow to have a look..I've seen the grey gloss units but not the matt..I'm even contemplating using the kitchen units against a faux brick wall which may work with soft grey units...but still not 100% whether the brick will look right in a Georgian apartment ..the ceilings are so tall so not sure what other splash back to use....See MoreKitchen in Listed Georgian House - London
Comments (7)The fact of interior design - that you can not please all the people all the time. In this case the clients were delighted and therefore a job well done. No true landscape shot Isidora but an image of the opposite side of the kitchen to complete the picture....See MoreGeorgian office has become uninspiring dumping ground
Comments (22)Hi Karis, It would be good to see a plan of the room as the photos can distort perspective a little. I agree with you, the room does look a little off kilter. It's too heavy to the right of the fireplace -to balance it out you need something to the left (of the fireplace).- reflecting the height and width of the bookcase. One way you could achieve this is by using paintings or some kind of wall art above and slightly behind a chair. (small relaxing arm/reading chair would be ideal. A floor light in this corner even, if its only a plug in floor spot light will make a difference. Option A will also feel a little more balanced, but also a very tiny bit like the reception of some private practice. If the desk isn't too big, can you try turning the desk slightly diagonally into the room? Alternatively, position the desk where you had it originally and create a picture wall full of all the photos you love behind it (on the door wall). You will also need either a desk light either positioned on the desk or on the wall to give you the lighting you need, making your desk a pleasant place to work at. Hope this helps, please keep us posted. Annika...See MoreLaura Thomas
