Empty wall in living room. How to decorate it?
This wall behind the sofa is calling for help! I would love to hear any ideas how to decorate it. One big painting, different sizes picture frames, shelves, wall sculpture? I'm confused how to use appropriately this space.

But if you go for art- I wouldn't bother trying to hard to match it to the room- go for something you love. Comments (3)Hi Minnie, thanks for your reply. The paint brand is Johnstone's. My wife also thought Brilliant white might be too cold so we are now considering something with a little bit more warmth, possibly a more 'creamy' colour. The living room faces West, the dining room East - the living room gets the sun in the evening. The paneling would be going around the inside edge of the arch, basically an architrave that wraps the sides and the under edge. I have had it suggested to me that we paint the two window walls and the archway in blue as that will link the rooms together whilst ensuring that the colour is visible regardless of which room you are in or where you are sat? The boards will stay exposed though we are sanding them are treating with a light oak coloured varnish. Furniture wise, the sofa is an beige/mocha fleck colour, dining table is 'shabby chic' wooden top with white legs, Coffee table is wood topped with white legs....See MoreLiving room corner, empty space

6 years agoFirst I think to reconsider the wall cabinet It's too big and getting all attention.
To bring a bit more color into the room I would recommend some paintings pictures selected from the same color pallets then your pillows to make sure is nor getting too overwhelming.

6 years agoWe would definitely suggest to remove the tall cabinet, maybe replacing it with a floor based not higher than the fireplace.
What about wallpaper or a much bolder colour for the wall? Or a combination of two colours (in the whole room) or adding a rail to accent.
Rather than paintings there are more subtle choices like glass frames...if you like green tones.
