My wet room walls have NOT been tanked ! Help

Hi everyone,
Can anyone help with a frustrating situation I am in at the moment. I have had issues with my wet room for some time. It was installed in January and immediately we had problems, mainly the grout coming out and the wet room was never siliconed around the joint where the floor meets the wall. We had an independent report on the wetroom and they uncovered the following issues :

damp under the floor (verified by a damp meter) and on the walls.

My grout has discoloured due to damp

Grout is coming out in the shower area despite grouting 5times.

Puddling near the drain as the water is not sloping down.

i have been informed by the installer that the shower walls haven't been tanked only up to 10cm and that they don't need to.
After research and countless conversations with other installers they have all confirmed that tanking the walls is a must.
I am trying to find written documentation or some kind of guide lines that can back this up but having no luck.
Can anyone help with this ?

Do you have movement occurring from somewhere causing it to blow from behind it?

I'm wondering if an official report from a building inspector ( building control at local council ) might be of benefit. May be he / she could prove that the wet room is a dangerous install, as the damp could move to other areas, affect the joists, electrical wiring underneath etc? Then you could go back to the installer with the 'official' findings??

You have used grey as a neutral, and it is a backdrop for your co-ordinating black and white photos. It is perfectly fine to stick to this neutral palette without adding any colour, but if you do want to add colour, then the brighter the better. A mustard yellow, an acid green, a raspberry pink or a plum would look good, as would a strong teal. If you want to use primary colours then use them sparingly to avoid it looking like a child's playroom! Perhaps have the print and then pick up one if the colours in a few accessories, but don't go overboard with it. Primary colours can be very jarring to the eye.

Our guest en-suite is pretty much the same size as your loo 2.60m x 1.40m. It was built as a wet room with underfloor heating, but we added shower doors after a while, as the toilet (seat) would take a long time to dry after showering. I love the layout, it's simple and efficient. As for colours, my preference was for black tiles on the floor and red glazed tiles in the shower to complement, however hubby thought it would look too Gothic and we ended up with some safe 'swimming pool' glass mosaic. There's also a slim towel warmer behind the door, not visible in the photo. As your space is wider, I think you could create an alcove like in the Grosvenor Riverside pic. I absolutely think you can achieve smart, I think a lot of it has to do with the textures. If you go for some of the large, plain, matt tiles available now it adds to sleekness. You don't necessarily have to go dark, something in a plain light grey, pale cream etc. You can add a touch of dark with accessories such as towels or the vanity unit, or preferably both. Maybe something like these large grey tiles :- coupled with a dark grey vanity and white bowlYou can stick to monotone accessories or with this combo you can add pretty much any accessory colour, turquoise, mustard, raspberry, blues, greens etc

Hi Fullrenov

This sounds like a really poor installation on several levels, you must be very disappointed and frustrated.

I think you should contact the British Institute of Kitchen & Bathroom Installation.

They can offer good solid independent advice and check to see if the various standards have been met.

If you are having all these issues after a few months, your installers have to come back and sort it out for you, their work must be guaranteed.
